AHDRA ANNOUNCES NEW NON-POINTS EVENT AT STURGIS RALLY

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., July 12, 2004 - AHDRA recently announced plans for a non-points drag race event during the 64th Annual Black Hills Motorcycle Rally. The "Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Race at the Rally" will be held August 8-9, 2004 at Sturgis Dragway.

AHDRA will host its normal 14 classes of competition with regular 2004 purse payouts, but no championship points will be awarded.

"This will be a 1/8th mile, non-points event," said Craig Tharpe of AHDRA. "Track renovations are underway that include a new track timing system, trackside concrete walls, additional shut-down area (total shut-down 1600ft), a sand trap with a catch net and re-grounded launch pads."

AHDRA last sanctioned an event in Sturgis in 1998. With the combined efforts of Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts and AHDRA, race fans can expect a great show at Sturgis Dragway.

"We're excited to partner with AHDRA to bring professional drag racing back to Sturgis," said Anne Paluso, Screamin' Eagle racing manager.

Gates open at Sturgis Dragway at 3:00pm both days. Sunday, qualifying begins at 4:00pm and Monday eliminations will begin at 4:00pm.

Admission to the Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Race at the Rally is $40 for 2-days or $25 for single day passes. H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount at the gate and children 11 and under are admitted free.

Spectators can also attend a test and tune session to be held Saturday night at 6:00pm for $10. The test and tune fee for bikes is $25.

AHDRA offers 14 classes of competition including 200 mph Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys, Modified Gas Bikes, Pro Stock Bikes, V-Rods and more.
