AHDRA RIDERS ARE EAGER FOR ACTION AT NORWALK RACEWAY PARK, JUNE 11TH AND 12TH
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., June 7, 2005—Following a premature finish to the AHDRA event at a rain-covered Atlanta Dragway over Memorial Day weekend, competitors and fans alike are ready to see racing action resume at this weekend's Roeder Harley-Davidson Buckeye Nationals presented by Drag Specialties.
Norwalk Raceway has been the stage for many AHDRA national records, including the historical "first in the 30s" mark for Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley champ Steve Stordeur, in 2003.

Top Fuel - Vancil

Top Fuel - Brancaccio |
Although Stordeur bettered that record pass later at Rockingham Dragway, Doug Vancil —a former champion himself— still holds the eighth mile E.T. record (4.094) he set at Norwalk Raceway in 2004.
Vancil stands to reset his record at this weekend's meet, but it's the points standings that will be first on the minds of the Vance & Hines/Drag Specialties-sponsored team.
Vancil leads the standings currently, but rider Drums Brancaccio of Nutley, NJ, is just a handful of points behind and is very vocal about his determination for a championship.
Brancaccio's last championship was in 2001, and with his energetic riding skills and the tuning expertise from bike owner Don Johnson, the team is certainly well driven for 2005 championship action.
They will have to drive by other contenders, including another Johnson-owned bike, piloted by Tracy Kile of Hatfield, PA, and the power of Sturgis, MI's Mike Romine riding for the Salt Lake H-D team. Kile and Romine are third and fourth in the standings with only two points separating them.

Pro Fuel - Streeter

Syn3 ET and SEP - McConnell

Another battle to the front will take the track in Norwalk when local rider Chris Streeter mounts his Clone Cycle/Chromatic Pro Fuel ride to further his lead over Mike Lehman. Lehman's H-D of Palm Beach bike trails Streeter by 42 points, and the performance from this pair in Norwalk could quickly change those numbers.
In the skill and performance of index and E.T. bracket racing, no one knows better than Robert McConnell of Greenwood, LA the pressure and drive to stay ahead. McConnell leads the standings in a pair of classes including the Screamin' Eagle Performance 11.50 index class where he is just 20 points in front of a talented Donnie Huffman.
McConnell will be looking to advance round by round in Syn3 ET competition as well with a narrow 10-point lead over a former champion, J.P. Hendrzak.
This weekend's event will bring out the best from these teams and plenty more as 15 categories compete on the quarter mile at Norwalk Raceway.
Meanwhile, the action on the strip is all part of the excitement of Ohio's North Coast Thunder Rally. The rally, which goes from June 7th -June 12th, includes rides, a block party, a bike parade, and—of course—AHDRA drag racing!
Roeder Harley-Davidson, the event's sponsor, leads off the racing festivities with a Nitro party on Friday at the Sandusky location. The party goes from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and will include AHDRA racers, live entertainment, a Hot Rod & Bike cruise-in, food, vendors, and more.
Racing gets under way at Norwalk Raceway on Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Admission is $40 for the weekend and $25 for a single-day pass. H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount and children 11 and under are admitted free. Free admission is also offered to active military and reserve personnel.
Discount tickets are available at Roeder Harley-Davidson in Sandusky.
The cameras from ESPN2's Inside Drag Racing will be on hand to catch the action at Norwalk Raceway, and fans can relive the excitement by catching the broadcast on July 24th at 11:00 a.m.
