AHDRA HEADED TO THE GOLDEN STATE FOR THE S & S CYCLE CALIFORNIA NATIONALS PRESENTED BY DRAG SPECIALTIES, MAY 1ST AND 2ND, FAMOSO RACEWAY

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., April 26, 2004 - The AHDRA Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Championship Series travels west to Bakersfield, CA, this week for a first-time appearance at Famoso Raceway, with a huge weekend expected for racers and fans alike.

The ground-pounding excitement of 200 mph Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys will blaze into Famosa Raceway, May 1st and 2nd, with top contenders of the sport including 2003 National Champion Doug Vancil (Albuquerque, N.M.) and 2002 National Champion Ron Houniet (Maple Ridge, B.C.) in a guaranteed side-by-side battle to the finish.

AHDRA President Craig Tharpe notes that response to this event has been tremendous. "Our competitors and fans have been requesting a California event for some time now," Tharpe explained. "We were fortunate to get the opportunity to work with Famoso Raceway and we look forward to giving everyone the exciting show they've asked for."

Tharpe says that AHDRA's phones have been ringing steadily with inquiries about the S & S Cycle California Nationals Presented by Drag Specialties. "We have had numerous calls from H.O.G. clubs and other organizations wanting to bring in group rides to the race. We plan to accommodate the many riders expected to attend this weekend's event."

S & S Cycle and Drag Specialties have provided top-notch sponsorship support for this second West Coast venue of AHDRA's 14-race series. Bakersfield Harley-Davidson will lend a hand with promotions as they host the AHDRA Nitro Party on Friday, April 30th, 3:00-6:00 p.m., with race bikes, discount tickets, food, and more. Bakersfield Harley-Davidson is located at 824 18th Street in Bakersfield.

The racing action at Famoso Raceway gets under way on Saturday with qualifying at 9:00 a.m. On Sunday, Sportsman eliminations begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Pros take the track at 12:30 p.m.

Admission to the S & S Cycle California Nationals Presented by Drag Specialties is $40 for the weekend, and single-day passes are $25. H.O.G. members receive a $5 discount at the gate and children 11 and under are admitted free. AHDRA also extends free admission to active military and reserve with proper identification.

AHDRA offers 14 classes of competition, including three Nitro classes, Modified gas bikes, Pro Stocks, V-Rods, Street classes, and more.
