AHDRA ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF V-ROD CLASS SPONSORED BY SCREAMIN' EAGLE PERFORMANCE PARTS

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., February 6, 2003- The AHDRA announced they will add another class to their existing 15 classes of competition for the 2003 season.

Responding to input from Harley-Davidson and Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts, the AHDRA's Screamin' Eagle V-Rod class will be a "heads-up", .400-second, Pro-tree class and reserved for the 60-degree liquid-cooled V-Twin with overhead cam motorcycles. The motorcycle must be ridden under it's own power to the staging, starting line and back to the pit area after completion of the run. (No towing allowed). Combined weight of bike and rider must be at least 600 pounds at the conclusion of all runs.

"The V-Rod is the most award winning motorcycle Harley-Davidson has ever produced. Now, V-Rod racers can win some win some awards of their own in this exciting new class," said Mike Kennedy, Director of Marketing for Harley-Davidson Parts and Accessories.

AHDRA technical director, Bill McGrew says adding the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod class brings forth a different breed of Harley's to racing competition. "Introducing the V-Rod could certainly spark interest in the availability of race components and development of the V-Rod. We believe making the V-Rod a visible part of the racing action will help make this happen".

Craig Tharpe, AHDRA President agrees with McGrew. "Our reason for adding the class is to provide a venue that encourages the development of the V-Rod and it's high-performance potential while maintaining the unique appearance and sleek design".

With the addition of Screamin' Eagle V-Rod, the AHDRA now hosts 16 classes of competition, including 200mph Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys, Modified gas bikes, street bikes, Junior Dragsters and more.
