Elimination
Day at Pacific Raceways
5:00pm
Ray
Price gets a birthday gift from Grimes..his first AHDRA Top Fuel win and Donnie Huffman and Greg Krenik make
multiple appearances in the finals here in Seattle. Catch all the results from todayÕs exciting rounds on the
ladder pages. An impressive
turnout in the stands and tremendous action on the track made for a great finish
here at Pacific Raceways. The
temps were way unexpected- near 99 for todayÕs finals (itÕs a dry heat-ha ha),
but that didnÕt stop the racers or fans from enjoying the weekend. Thanks to Kresto, Downtown H-D,
Destination H-D and Eastside H-D for supporting this weekendÕs event and a very
special thanks to ChildrenÕs Ride 11 for choosing AHDRA to celebrate your
worthy cause.
Good night Seattle.
3:50pm
We
are wrapping up the sportsman semi final rounds now and the ProÕs are due back
out at 4:15pm. The Top Fuel semi
was a crowd pleaser with Tommy Grimes hitting the 6.50 mark (with 98 degree
temp readings). Grimes has a
chance at his first ever AHDRA win if he can take out Tracy Kile who is running
consistently here in Seattle.
Grimes also has one final chance to back up his earlier 224mph pass for
the new MPH record.
From
the upset side of things- in G2 Street Pro, Andy Simon has finally been stopped
short of another win. Jeff King
got by him in the semi and meanwhile, Steve Stute, a proven tough contender got
by Zach Johnson who was laying down 8-sec zone qualifying numbers yesterday.
Stay
tuned for todayÕs remaining semiÕs followed by the exciting final rounds here
at Pacific Raceways!
(Hey
Vose- we are 3 hours behind you) LOL
2:40pm
Eliminations
are running along smoothly. We are
about 20 minutes away from the semi final rounds of the Pro Categories. Joining us here in the tower for
todayÕs action were a number of ÒcelebsÓ, including, Biker Build-Off regular,
Paul Yaffe. One of YaffeÕs originals
that was designed and built especially for the ChildrenÕs Ride charity went for
a cool $85,000 at Friday nightÕs Auction and Gala to raise money for ChildrenÕs
Hospital. Famed photographer,
Michael Lichter has been here taking the action in via film and we hope to
catch his great work in upcoming issues of EasyRiders and V-Twin Magazine.
Stay tuned for more racing results on the
ladder pages as the rounds are completed.
The Pros are back out at 3:00pm PST.
12:15pm
Good afternoon
from Pacific Raceways. What a
start to the day we have had here!
ChildrenÕs Ride 11 just roared through the gate and it was
gigantic! The numbers are not in
yet, but they ordered 2500 armbands, and by all accounts it sure looks like
they used them! The
parade of bikes lasted about an hour.
We are proud to be the destination choice for ChildrenÕs Ride 11 to
benefit the ChildrenÕs Regional Medical Center here in Seattle!
Racing starts
later today to allow the riders to enjoy their complimentary lunch. We are set to fire up the first pair at
1:00pm. (PST) Once again, for
those east coasters that forgot yesterday- we are THREE hours behind you out
here in Seattle.
Stay tuned for todays results on the ladder pages!
Qualifying Day
at Pacific Raceways:
4:00pm
You
are reading the time correct- it is 4:00pm PST and we have wrapped with a
nearly delay-free 3 rounds of qualifying at Pacific Raceways.
210
entries was the final count today- a shy but normal number for this event.
Join
us tomorrow for the elimination rounds under more forecasted sunny and mid-80
temps at Pacific Raceways.
Early
morning rounds for sportsman kick off at 9:30am and the Pros take the track at
12:45pm.
Good Night from Seattle.
Qualifying Re-Cap
In Screamin Eagle Top Fuel Tracy Kile of
Hatfield, PA grabbed the pole position with his round one 6.683 before his
wounded final two laps. Mike
Lehman rebounded in the final to take the 2nd spot from Tommy Grimes
who gave up his chance at moving to the top spot in the final round after
contact with the timing devices.
Perhaps having the toughest day of all was Doug Vancil who started his
weekend in trouble. Vancil found
himself changing motors after an explosion in FridayÕs test and tune. In his opening round of qualifying he
managed to get down the track, although a 9.851 was not good enough to get in
the 8-bike field. His final two
attempts were met with more ÒboomsÓ-spitting pushrods. Vancil was checked out by safety staff
on his third pass after the big pop down track and was reported to be okay.
In Kresto Pro Drag, Rick Moore appeared to have
his Mid Continent ride back in shape, laying down a 7.561 at 180mph, but
troubled passes in the 2nd and 3rd rounds have resulted
in unrepairable problems and Moore has checked in broke for tomorrows opening
round of eliminations. MooreÕs
demise will put Becky Froehling in the show who was outside of the field with a
8.527 best.
John Breckenridge had a stellar opening round
in Kresto Pro Drag with a 6.763 at 204mph. Despite a troubled 2 final rounds- he held on to the #1
spot. Patrick Fenderson lit the
boards with 6 second numbers with his 6.940 best for the 2nd spot.
Joey Sternotti had a consistent day in S &
S Pro Gas racing and ended his day in the top spot with a 7.549 best-in front
of Scott PollacheckÕs 7.944. Stan
Sheppard who proudly announced his personal best run in FridayÕs test and tune
took the 3rd spot with a 7.949.
The Samson Pro Mod field is unusually light in
Seattle. With three entries, it
was Randy Borho getting the pole with a 8.634. Donnie Huffman who struggled in
his regular sportsman categories came in the 2nd spot (8.901)
followed by Big Dave Brill in the 3rd spot with a 9.121.
In G2 Street Pro Racing- Zach Johnson made the
trip to Seattle with his newly built bike that he debuted in Norwalk. He had a troubled start with it back
east, but easily made a return to his 8-second numbers here in Seattle. Despite that effort, his 8.933 best
wasnÕt enough to stop the unstoppable –Andy Simon. Simon who is on a roll with consecutive
wins (winning every event except Gainesville) grabbed the top spot with an
8.748. Speed Magazine reporter,
Jack Korpela tells us that Simon has met with critics along the way and offers
up a tear down anytime to satisfy any doubts on his success.
Michael Ray who also has a reign on the SSC124
class is sitting out of the competition this weekend after he unloaded parts
and pieces in FridayÕs test and tune.
Mike Roberts captured the pole with his 9.493 best.
Although Michael Ray missed out on his
championship class this weekend, he is on the roster in the V-Rod Destroyer
category with a 4th place finish. It was Derek Nonnamaker taking the top spot with his 9.250
pass and L.E. Tonglet (Yep-thatÕs G.T.Õs brother) is the #2 qualifyer with a
9.279. Gene Thomason is back in
the competition here in Seattle with a 3rd place finish at
9.300.
Bruce Croneberger is continuing his strong
performance in Drag Masters Hot Street- grabbing the top spot with an 10.107 in
front of Champion, Mike Roberts, 10.292.
Terry Vaughan led the field all day in
ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod qualifying and a 9.863 was his best shot of the day. Vaughan courageously offered up his
winnings this weekend to the Josh Tharpe Memorial Fund at this morningÕs
riderÕs meeting and challenged his fellow competitors to do the same.
Wayne Pugh was on top all day in Performance
Corner Super Eliminator and ended the day that way with his 10.903 best.
Jack Wagner is the top man in S & S Super
Sport with an unbeatable 10.301 while Scott Martin leads the field in Rucker
Performance Super Gas with an 9.713.
Getting close to that number was a pair of 9.717Õs from Daniel Harvey
and Brett DeGood, followed by a respectable 9.719 from Joe Boyd.
Randy Monte and Charlie Walker scored matching
11.501Õs in the SEP competition with Monte getting the pole with the better
MPH.
In Syn3 ET qualifying runs, Dan Brummet grabbed
the top spot with a best reaction at .002. Sandra McMillin who finds herself tuning her own ride this
weekend after the untimely death of her husband in April also scored a .002 for
the #2 spot. McMilliin came to the
timing tower during todayÕs sessions seeking parts, and was completely
surprised to learn that she was at the top of the 43-entry order.
The temps here at Pacific Raceways have been a
surprising high 80 range with track temps reported at over 125 by days
end. TomorrowÕs forecast calls for
even warmer temps, but with SeattleÕs rainy reputation- we are willing to
battle the sunshine!
The annual arrival of ChildrenÕs Ride rolls
into Pacific Raceways tomorrow around 11:15am- with nearly 2,000 participants
expected. A great show will await
them!

3:30pm
Final
round of qualifying for the Pros
firing up with the G2 Street Pro field.
Stay tuned for all of todayÕs numbers following
the conclusion of todayÕs show.
2:00pm
2nd round of Top Fuel on the track
now. Tracy Kile still leading the
pack with his round one 6.683. A
bad break for Vancil when another big pop (losing the push rods) from the
machine leaves him without a good solid pass after two rounds. Grimes had a nice 6.78 lap at 215mph
and moves to the 2nd spot behind Kile. Mike Lehman just ran a 6.98 to get him in the 3rd
spot. Following the
final pair to Top Fuelers, we will kick off the 3rd and final round
of todayÕs qualifying with Syn3 ET.
12:15pm
Qualifying
Session Two is on the track with the Syn3 ET field.
All the numbers from todayÕs first round are
posted on the qualifying result pages.
Stay tuned for the more numbers following this 2nd round.
11:55am
We
are mid way through the opening round of Screamin Eagle Top Fuel with Tracy
Kile leading the pack with a 6.683 at 209mph. Doug Vancil struggled in his
opening pass after a motor change last night following a test and tune attempt.
Tommy Grimes had problems in his opener as well. There are a few pairs left to
go.
We are down for track repair after Phil Schmidt
took out a couple of timing devices- stay tuned for the numbers once we
conclude the round.
8:30am-
Good morning from Pacific Raceways.
Track preparations are underway for todayÕs qualifying sessions set to
begin shortly after 9am. This
facility has noise curfews, so nothing can be fired- not even the P.A. system
prior to 9:00am.
The
competitor turnout looks to be around the 200 entry mark- light compared to
most, but plenty enough for an action-packed show.
The
riderÕs meeting is taking place currently and following that we will start
bringing them to the lanes-starting out with the Syn3 ET category.
TodayÕs
qualifying results will be brought to you on the result pages and we will check
back in on this page with any delay notifications or breaking news.
East Coast result viewers- remember we are
Pacific Time- 3 hours behind you.
