Back with Elimination Update from Pacific Raceways-

Another of many oil downs this weekend has delayed the show for a bit, but we are back up and running.  A little under the gun with a track noise curfew of 5:30pm but things seem to be back on schedule.

Back on the track will be Doug Vancil in Screaminí Eagle Nitro Harley after he lays down another big number on a solo pass ñcourtesy of a no show from opponent, Robert Smith.

Steve Dorn will be back for the semi-final round after beating Steve Heidner.

In JIMS Pro Fuel- Kristine Becker was rewarded another round after Chicago Joe threw a belt, but Becker has problems and will miss the round that would have advanced her to the final on a bye run.

In Joker Machine Pro Modified- Dwy is on a streak with Mauldin following suit for the semiís, but to everyoneís surprise, the #1 qualifyer, Doug Ainsworth, who has been the one to beat here, will not advance to the semiís after he breaks something in round two.

Bruce Barker has advanced with the upset to face Mauldin.  Dwy gets the Bye.

Screaminí Eagle V-Rod-

Guidera X2- when brothers, Matt and Lin face the possibility of a final round brotherly match-up.  Matt will have to beat Gary Worsfold who advanced when Clay Wilwert  failed to get proper equipment accessories required on his bike, which DQíd his winning pass.

Lin Guidera will need to get by Dave Diedrich who advanced with a win over Terry Vaughn.

Willie Herschberger  (Floridian)the Dragmaster himself is making the team proud with a semi final round bid over Scott Martin-and will get a bye to the final.

Semi final rounds coming up shortly- Stay tuned for all the numbers and the big finish from Pacific Raceways!

(Larkins- the updates are coming as quick as my little fingers can type-un-interrupted that is.)

VANCIL HOT IN SEATTLE!

Eliminationís Fired Up with a 6.857 from Robert Smith.  The stands are jammed packed for a hot action on the track.  Following Smithís opening six-second zone pass, Chicago Joe blows up in the box and Dorn leaves solo-shutting it off before the traps.

Canadian Ken Kent makes a nice straight pass, his quickest of the weekend at 7.04 195.99mph.

Something goes away for Griz Robinson at the hit of the throttle and Steve Heidner shuts it off early on the solo run.

Vancil wraps up the opening round with a big roar.  The  #1 qualifyer flew down the quarter mile with a 6.435 at 214.86mph.

Round One still underway with the JIMS Pro Fuels out now-  Big upset- #1 qualifyer, Chicago Joe throws a belt and Kristine Becker advances to next round.

Final Round Complete-Qual.

Dan Norlin finishes 1st in SEP but Burdynski bumps him for the top spot (10.395) in Hot Street.

Matt Guidera is the #1 spot in V-Rod (9.876).

Sternotti runs his best of the day in Street Pro (9.320) for #2 spot, but Steve Stutes Round one 9.127 keeps him in the top spot.  Verl Smith and Jordan Cruz follow to make up the order. Cruz did not make a third round pass.

Doug Ainsworth of Vancouver, BC is running the numbers in Pro Modified.  His 8.337 at 154.90 has him at the top of the order and Cliff Dwy runs his best at 8.40 to get the 2nd spot.  Darren Maudlin is third with a 8.429 lap..

Randy Borho made a wrong turn to make contact with the center line for a final round DQ but finished the day in the 7th spot.

In Kresto Pro Drag Scott Truett did not come out for the final pass-perhaps satisfied with his 7.605 that has him in front of the pack.  John Breckenridge of Sultan WA is the #2 qualifyer with a 7.622.

Chicago Joe maintains the pace for his #1 finish in JIMS Pro Fuel, while Patrick Fenderson grabs #2  spot after leaving before the activated tree on his final run of the day and rear engine pilot Chris Gartman is third.

In S & S Pro Gas, Lee Uhrich skipped the final lap and keeps his top spot at 8.324. Ed Biaggi is celebrating a birthday this weekend and a #2 spot.  Robert Markham would love to grab another Pro Gas win this weekend and he finishes in the 3rd spot followed by Fred Love and Stan Sheppard who returned to the track after recovering from an accident that kept him out for a while.  Welcome back Stan..

Joe Sternotti was back on the line-this time mounting a Pro Stock ride.  He finished in the 3rd spot with his quickest of the day at 8.113.  It was Rick Maney setting the example for speed here with a 7.474 at 174.28 best of the day and top spot finish.

Doug Vancil wowed the crowd again-this time with a 6.541-not his quickest but plenty enough for the eager crowd and he holds tight at #1.  Ron Houniet and Steve Heidner both struggled in their final round pass of the day.  Chaz OíNeill ran his best of the day in the final while Ken Kent and Steve Dorn donít improve.  Saving the day for a full field-Tom Shwartz shows up at the gate minutes before final round and Mark Turner riding the former Top Fueler of Mark Cox will be awarded his competition license.  That makes a full field for tomorrows eliminations.

The action tomorrow begins at 1:00pm (PST) following the arrival of Childrenís Ride 9. here at Pacific Raceways.

Complete final qualifying numbers coming right up.

Good night from Seattle.

Round Two from Pacific Raceways

2nd Round Qualifying nearly complete:  Scott Truett setting the pace in Kresto Pro Dragster.  Joe Sternotti travels from New Jersey to compete in S & S Pro Stock and Rivera Primo Street Pro classes. Heís not running his normal numbers, but improved his pace in round two.  Steve Stute led off round two with a huge wheel stand, and kept his #1 spot.

Rick Maney leads the action in S & S Pro Stock with his round one 7.601.

Chicago Joe still leads the pack in JIMS Pro Fuel.

In Screaminí Eagle Nitro Harley Ron Houniet makes a move with a 6.696 at 207.85 to the #2 spot.  Steve Dorn takes third spot and Vancil runs a 6.767 and holds the top spot with his earlier 6.497.

The fields are light here in Seattle, but with track curfews and other activities underway in conjunction with the race- fans are getting a good show here at Pacific Raceways.  The oil downs have been more frequent than desired which have made for numerous delays-however we are still set to hit final round of qualifying close to schedule.

Back with news from the final rounds at the end of todays session.

More from Round One Qualifying-

The Nitro Harleys are out and itís a big day for Black Attack Racing headed up by Mark Elam and piloted by Steve Dorn.  Dorn came off the trailer with a 6.897 at 204.60, but his #1 spot was short lived when Doug Vancil blistered the 1/4 mile with a 6.49 at 210.41mph, moving the Oregon rider to the #2 spot.  Vancil proves once again that heís getting hold of the clutch problems with his outing in Norwalk scoring his 6.29 and off the trailer here in Seattle with big numbers!

Ron Houniet and Steve Heidner both chopped the throttle early and Joe Timmons had to shut down it down himself.  Chicago Joe threw huge flames from his Top Fuel ride but appears to be fine.  Depending on the cause of the big boom from his ride, he could have his work cut off before round two.

That completes round one in all categories.  The numbers and qualifying order for Pro Stock and Nitro Harley coming right up.

Round One Update:

Qualifying continues from Pacific Raceways with the Nitro Bikes taking their first shot at qualifying:

Chicago Joe came off the trailer with a 7.187 at 198.03 to a approving crowd in the JIMS Pro Fuel category, good enough for the #1 spot.  Patrick Fenderson is #2 with a 7.273, and itís Chris Gartman on the famed rear engine machine in the third spot.

Seattle native Steve Huff is back in racing action this weekend in the JIMS Pro Fuel category and he finished his first round back at the track in the 4th spot.

Kristine Becker opens the round in the 5th spot (8.815), but leaves an oil trail along the way, and with that we are on hold for track clean-up.

Weíll be back shortly with Pro Stock and Screaminí Eagle Nitro Harley first round action once we are back underway.

Good morning from a sunny and pleasant day at Pacific Raceways.

Qualifying is underway in the Sportsman categories and the Proís are set to take the track at 11:00am- (PST).

This morningís activities were lead off by the DRAG RACING 101 school, headed up by Maura Hall of Zipperís Performance fame.

The Sportsman Racerís Association sponsored her trip here, and during my visit to the class, everyone was absorbing the info and found it very informative.  Racers new and old attended the class to hear tips on brushing up techniques and safety was top on the list.

I know everyone joins us here at AHDRA in thanking Maura and everyone involved in bringing DRAGRACING 101 out west.

Stay tuned for more updates and results as the rounds are completed in todayís opening round.
