ThatÕs a wrap from Rockingham Dragway.

All the results

4:55pm-

ItÕs been a full day of action here at Rockingham Dragway with big numbers on the track and nice numbers in the stands.  WeÕve been absent from the commentating on this page today with numerous media guests on hand to keep updated, but the numbers are flowing after the rounds courtesy of Lisa ÒMacÓ McHone.

The ScreaminÕ Eagle Nitro Harley semi finals are on the track now and as this report was being filed, Doug Vancil and Jay Turner advanced to the final.  Turner is turning 40Õs consistently today and hopes to pull another one in the final against Vancil who will edge further in front of Romine in the standings with a win today.  Turner is on tap in the JIMS Pro Fuel semi as well and winning that round would give him to final round appearances today.  TurnerÕs youngest and most loyal fan-and daughter, Lindsey has been cheering Dad on all day from the timing tower and says she plans to celebrate two wins today!

Stay tuned for the numbers from todayÕs semiÕs –followed by the finals from the ScreaminÕ Eagle Performance Parts Nationals at Rockingham Dragway.

Early morning elimination rounds are still underway at 11:26am.  We are slightly behind due to an oil down- so todayÕs start will likely be slightly off the mark.

More from yesterdayÕs qualifying notes-

Teammates- Jamie McNaughton and Larry Edmondson are out front in this weekendÕs ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod line-up with McNaughton at #1 and Edmondson in the 2nd spot. ThatÕs the way the national standings have them posted as well.

In S & S 124 Challenge, Joey Sternotti and Michael Ray are still at it for the #1 spot in the standings.  Just a slight difference in the marks has Sternotti out front currently, and heÕs the #1 qualifyer this weekend, with Ray in the 2nd spot.

Other happenings from the SSC124 field- apparently the protest filed against the Lenny Wisniewski owned bike in yesterdayÕs qualifying resulted in a DQ for the entry.

Mike Roberts got the #1 spot in Drag MasterÕs Hot Street with a 10.233, but Bruce Croneberger came close to nabbing it himself with an 10.235.

Bill Rowe Jr will be the #1 qualifyer leading into todays SEP eliminations with a nearly perfect 11.501, Alan Poff earned the Syn3 ET top spot with a nice .002 reaction and Charlie WalkerÕs almost perfect 10.908 netted hime the #1 spot in Performance Corner Super Eliminator.

Brett DeGood, the points leader in Rucker Performance Super Gas  is reportedly feeling a little under the weather this weekend, but did not let it interfere with his on track performance.  He got the #1 spot with a 9.714 and closely behind him was Allen Nusbaum with a 9.715 and just behind with an 9.718 for the 3rd spot was Billy Leonard.

Dean Shields was close to the mark with a 10.309 in S & S Super Sport and Michael Harrison got a 10.313 for the 2nd spot. Julia Holliday, the current pointÕs leaderwas 3rd with a 10.316.

Stay tuned for the start of todayÕs show, which is on a slight delay due to track oil downs this morning.

Good morning from a cool sunny morning in Rockingham, NC.  We are back for another day of racing excitement with what appears to be a record crowd of fans on hand.  The campgrounds rocked late into the night hours with music provided by the Five To One Band and shortly the weary will awaken to the sound of 300-plus motors firing up for a shot at the winnerÕs circle here at The Rock.

YesterdayÕs ScreaminÕ Eagle Nitro Harley field wrapped up yesterday with a slew of 50Õs and for Doug Vancil, who celebrated his birthday last night, it was a 6.433 final round blast to give him the gift-wrapped #1 qualifying spot in todayÕs field.   Mike Romine  took the top speed honors with a 210.05mph lap and his 6.535 gave him the #2 spot in the field.  Tak Shigematsu came very close to that same mark with his 6.539 for the #3 spot.

Twenty-One bikes attempted to get in the field for todayÕs show and while Armon Furr came up short in JIMS Pro Fuel qualifying on his ride, he edged himself in the Top Fuel field with a 7.257 for the 16th position on a bike prepared by Bill Furr that will eventually be piloted by Sam White.

Jay Turner prevailed over the field in JIMS Pro Fuel qualifying with a 6.695 while top two pointÕs contenders, Mike Lehman and Chris Streeter make up the #2 and #3 spots respectively.

In S & S Pro Stock- the champion returned..Rick Maney was back and just like riding a bicycle, he rode right back into the top spot with a 7.551 at 168.83.  Maney has been working extra hard at his new job at G2, keeping him off the racetrack a lot this year, but the job seems to be agreeing with him nicely.  Set to take over the Pro Stock Championship throne, is Dale Raudenbush who came in just barely shy of ManeyÕs best time, with an 7.556 at 167.53mph.

In S & S Pro Gas, Fred Collis got the #1 qualifying spot, and he came away with the Òscariest ride to the finishÓ mark.  According to AHDRA Official, Tim James who watches over the top end of the track duties, Collis came through the traps and went into a tank-flapping wobble.  Tim said it was the scariest few seconds he had seen in a long time, and is still amazed that Collis was able to stay aboard the bike.  We are happy to report that everything indeed turned out A-Okay, and Collis will lead off  with a bye-run in todayÕs eliminationÕs.

In Kresto Pro Drag, John Breckenridge grabbed the top spot with a 7.429 and pointÕs leader, Phil Schmidt ran his way to the 2nd spot with an 7.494..and AHDRAÕs Nitro Party Hero, Greg Byrnes rounded out the top three with a 7.532.  Willie Herschberger has informed the tower that his ride is broke and that will put Jeff Eboch in as the alternate for Herschberger who had qualified in the 5th spot.

Doug Ainsworth sat out of the St. Louis race, but heÕs back in action here at The Rock with the #1 qualifying spot after an 8.236 best.  Junior Pippin is right there with him, after an 8.248 put him just behind Ainsworth in the #2 spot.

Zach Johnson landed in the 8Õs in yesterdayÕs G2 Street Pro qualifying, an 8.966 to be exact.  He leads the field today.  ZachÕs  crewchief and ÒDadÓ-Kendall Johnson says that they canÕt seem to get a handle on the clutch and feel the bike should have 8.50Õs in it.

No doubt they have the talent from the Òbike buildingÓ celeb, and those 50Õs canÕt be far behind.

More from yesterdayÕs qualifying coming up shortly and the start of todayÕs eliminationÕs here at Rockingham Dragway.

Qualifying Day at The Rock!

6:47pm-

Still running at The Rock.  We are winding down the classes in todayÕs final round of sportsman qualifying and still typing the numbers in as they come in.  We will be back tomorrow with highlights from todayÕs rounds and coverage of eliminations when we get underway with early sportsman eliminations at 9:00am.

5:28pm- An earlier oil spill on the track made for a brief delay in the final session, but we are back underway with the final Pro session of the day.  The JIMS Pro Fuel class is on the track currently, and word from the tech department is that Jake Stordeur, son of Top Fuel Champ, Steve Stordeur will be awarded his license to compete in the Pro Fuel category after successfully completing the necessary requirements.  The newly licensed rider ousted at least four others out of the program with his 7.193 best lap.

Top Fuel bikes are out for the final run of the day and a season struggling Doug Vancil just turned the tables with a blast in the 40Õs at 205-plus.. Those final round numbers are coming up.

Qualifying continues and the numbers will follow at the completion of todayÕs session.

3:54pm-

Qualifying note:  We received word from tech that Travis Lummus has withdrawn his prior bike entry in the G2 Street Pro class and will enter a new bike in todayÕs final round.

Lummus has had a rugged start here at his home state track.  It started Thursday, when he participated in a private track rental and seized the motor on the bike.  The team left the track in frustration and facing a first time situation of missing the Rockingham event.

Thanks to help from Tilley Harley-Davidson the team made it back to the track with the bike, but had problems and missed the first round.  They scored a 9.583 in the 2nd round, and then came the word they were putting in the new entry for the 3rd and final lap of the day. A risky move, as it could take him out of the show tomorrow if he doesnÕt make it to the traps.  And as I am writing, Lummus ran his 3rd and final lap of the day and had big problems with the new entry. He coasted through the traps to get a time from the boards, but it will be all work and no play in the pits this evening as they attempt to get the bike back to itÕs usual performance for tomorrowÕs eliminationÕs.

With that said, we are now back with the Pros for the final and last chance qualifying session and more sportsman results are coming your way as they have just completed their 2nd session.

3:36pm-

The ProÕs have completed 2 rounds and the sportsman are in the middle of completing a 2nd round themselves.  We are keeping the result numbers coming at you on the qualifying pages at a steady pace and in order to keep you updated in a timely manner, we will only report back here if there is breaking news or a delay.

Back with the start of todayÕs final qualifying round shortly.

1:27pm:  Update

We have completed 1 complete round for all classes and ET and SEP classes have run a 2nd round.  We will now pause Sportsman qualifying to resume with the Pros leading off with Street Pro.  Once the 2nd Pro round is complete, we will resume round two Sportsman rounds with Hot Street, S. Elim, SSC, SS,VR and SG.

Good morning and welcome to the Live Update page for this weekendÕs ScreaminÕ Eagle Performance Parts Nationals presented by Drag Specialties.   We are blessed with sunny skies and very pleasant temperatures here at Rockingham Dragway and early reports are indicating a record crowd is on tap this weekend.

We are underway with round one of Syn3 ET qualifying at this time.  Due to the high volume of bike entries this weekend, we may vary the schedule in order to run the Pro classes on schedule.  If you think you are missing results from your favorite class- no worries, we will get them posted as soon as possible after they actually run..

We will check back here on the news page when time allows- but for your round by round results –follow the numbers on todayÕs qualifying pages.
