with a win over Stordeur in the Nitro Harley final!
All the numbers are
posted on the result pages and all the highlights are coming up next week on www.ahdra.com
Good
night from Rockingham Dragway!
Final rounds up
next. We apologize for delays in
result postings and limited commentary.
We had a few result issues in the tower and of course we are loaded up
with a six camera video shoot for the Outdoor Channel which involves a few TV
time outs.
Syn 3 ET fans. We will be posting your results
manually, due to a unusual ladder set up here on Rockingham computers. We apologize for that.
News on the ET
competition: Dan DeGood received a
bye to the final against Erik Nelson.
DeGoods final round could be his most meaningful after early round
action had him taking a spill at the launch and sending the bike skidding down
the track. He won the round even
with the spill when his opponent Steve Mann lit the red eye. DeGood is fine and has rebounded from the
accident for the final round here at The Rock.
Stay
tuned for final round results shortly.
Latest
News- We are battling with the ladder
computer here in the tower. Results
will be delayed. We will get you updated
quickly as possible. We are still
running, with the semis coming up next.
Round Two Update-
Round Two underway. We are running in various order each
round to allow everyone to arrive to final round together. Plenty of upsets including an early finish for Vancil. He needed the points for any chance of
catching Stordeur.
The camera crews have us
running behind in the tower on reporting results, so bare with us.
We
will get the numbers out as soon as possible.
We are racing at the
Rock. Vancil lead off with a 6.420
win over Tracy Kile. Not enough to
back up Vancils 6.33- he needs a 6.39 to get the official mark, but he will be
back for round two.
Dean Comunal upset a
local favorite, Mark Cox. Comunal
was off the line first and Cox was not able to make up the difference.
Bob Malloy scores another
round on the Hannums H-D bike owned by Weasle Skinner.
Malloy advanced over Mark
turner with a 6.691.
Steve Stordeur will be
back after a 6.417 at a fast 215.72 mph win over Greg Grove and Drums Brancaccio
took out Jay Turner
A big win for Robert
Stewart and Jimmy McClure. Stewart
rode the late Jim McClureís bike, built by Jimmy for a win over Mark Conner in
the opening round after Conner left too early. Phyllis and Betty were on the line on familiar turf and
celebrated a first round upset.
Eliminations
continue and the numbers will come quickly as possible after the rounds.
Big day ahead at the
Rock.
Good morning from the
Screamin Eagle Performance Parts Nationals Presented by the Carolina
Harley-Davidson Dealers Association.
Beautiful sunny skies is
the setting here in Rockingham, NC.
The Syn 3 ET bikes are on the track this morning in an effort to narrow
a huge field of entries down to the final sixteen.
The cameras from Outdoor
Channel Network are here today with six cameras in tow to catch all the
action. They have plenty to follow-
Who will leave with the Top Fuel record? Vancil could move within one round of
catching Stordeur with a win here and a 20- point bonus for a national ET
record. It could all come down to
the Vegas event if that happens.
Another close one- Truett
and Jones are battling it out in Kresto Pro Drag.
Who will go into Vegas
with the advantage?
Will Lummus better is own
eight- second numbers to improve his new record today and get a long overdue
win? You can bet he will give it a
huge try. He came loaded with a
new motor and Gene Lummus nailed the perfect combination and tune up for an
astounding performance on his hometown turf.
Can Mike Roberts go any faster in Hot
Street? His bike went through a
tear down in the late hours last night following a filed protest -which
resulted in a legal entry for Roberts and the 10.17 record mark.
We
will have all the answers today from the Rock. Stay tuned right here for all
the results. Todays show begins at
12:30pm
A
note from yesterdays qualifying results.
There were several mis-entered numbers in the tower computer during
competition yesterday, which results in inserting the name of the competitor
who is registered to that number.
So if you saw your name and thought there was an imposter representing
you on the track, you can relax now, the bike numbers were corrected this morning.
Notes:
Ray Price has inserted
Steve Simmons as his rider on the Top Fuel bike.
Tii Tharpe struggled all
day and was unable to get in a qualifying pass. He will give it a try in the Outlaw class tomorrow.
Bob Malloy was here with
the H-D of Seaford team, but he was riding the Hannums H-D sponsored bike owned
by Weasle Skinner. Malloy qualified 5th in the full field.
John Breckenridge had a
hard run in with the retaining wall in 2nd Round of Pro Drag, and
although his leg was definitely injured, he attempted to make a third round
pass. His bike shut off in the box
on that final attempt to get in the field. Hopefully he has gone to get that leg checked out.
Susie and Bruce Wevodau
are back among the family at the race track. Susie broke her leg in Texas and has gone through a lot of
recovery and she is back on the track.
Way to go Susie.
Greg Krenik gave Pro Mod
a try on a Junior Pippin ride. He
was approved for his license and qualified 8th in the field.
Final
Round of Sportsman nearly complete.
Today has been a crowd pleaser.
Great action on the track for the thousands on hand here at the
Rock. Tomorrows eliminations
should be a action packed event.
More on the highlights from today will come your way in the
morning. Plenty of records to be
backed up tomorrow. Catch all the
numbers right here on www.ahdra.com
Final Round Qualifying
Update-
We are running final
round in reverse order here and the Nitro Harleys are on the track- The
question is what will be the new national record from the Rock?? Will it be the 6.35 from Stordeur
earlier today or will it be the 6.33 that Doug Vancil JUST ran?? Vancil just bettered Stordeurs numbers,
but will have to back them up tomorrow.
Stordeur appears to be sitting out todays final round- no doubt saving
parts and securing his bid for the Championship title.
The
final round numbers are coming at you fast as we can get them in for you.
More from Round Two-
Stordeur
backs up the quarter mile record.
The Nitro Harley points leader ran a 6.357 in round one and backed it up
with a 6.392 in todays 2nd round. We are srill in a long round two with a few delays and
hundreds of bikes. We will keep
the numbers coming best we can.
Lummus backs up his
Street Pro numbers and riding like the 4 time champion he is. Lummus ran an 8.870, plenty enough to
back up the earlier 8.834. These
were the quarter mile marks and remaining records and eighth mile marks will be
confirmed after routine checks.
The air is good and those numbers could change before the end of this
meet.
By the way, if you saw
Chip Ellis on the qualifying list here, it was a mispunched number in the tower
and should have been Derek Poff.
Ellis is not here at the Rock.
More
coming
Round One completed. Over 88 ET bikes ran first round,
making up over 300 competitors here this weekend.
Delays have us a bit off schedule, but
the action is fast and the fans are happy. So far they have witnessed numerous record passes and
waiting to see them backed up.
Stordeur blew them away with a 6.35, Lummus gave the 8-second blast on a
Street Pro bike and Mike Roberts ran a 10.22 in Hot Street. Roberts reportedly ran a 10.05 in last
nights test and tune. Then, Dave
Feazell layed down a 7.33 in Pro Gas.
Speaking of Feazell, you will see him on the Pro Stock roster as well
this weekend. He showed up in the
staging lanes on the Jon/Miller/Thiels Wheels ride normally piloted by Dirk
Higgins. No word on where Higgins
is yet, but Feazell finished 3rd after one round on the bike Higgins
landed national records on in Indy.
We
are on the track with round two and all the numbers will come your way as quick
as possible.
Brief
delay for track clean up. Tii
Tharpe and Australian rider Craig Bonwick both had problems off the line and
Vancil lost a pipe and shredded a belt on his first attempt at qualifying. Storderurs 6.35 has him comfortable in
front and still to come Mark Cox and Mark Conner.
More from Round One
Steve Stordeur runs a
6.357 at 216.69mph. With a back-up this weekend Stordeur will
improve his current National record.
Still to come, Mike Romine who ran an amazing 6.26 in Chicago last week
along with the Ray Price machine and Doug Vancil who were also in the 620 zone
last weekend.
A
fast and furious round still underway.
More coming including more on Dave Feazell who ran a record 7.338 in
round one of Pro Gas qualifying.
Round One Update:
Lummus nails a 8.834 in
first round of Street Pro qualifying.
That is the quickest in history and there is plenty of time left to back
it up.
More
coming with results from all classes following the completion of round one.
Syn 3 ET qualifying on the
track for round one, although an early oil spill has us on hold for clean
up. Easily over 300 bikes teched
in for this weekends competition, including 20 Top Fuelers. A surprisingly healthy Pro Gas field,
with 13 entries on the pre-registration roster, including Dave Feazell who
recently layed down impressive numbers in NHRA competition. Frank Dove is ready to ride himself
making it an exciting day ahead in Pro Gas and all 14 classes of competition.
The competition is as
close as it gets in Kresto Pro Drag and Scott Truett seems to be taking the
pressure in stride and maintaining a humorous attitude abo
ut it.
With only 4 points
separating Truetts lead on Chuck Jones, Truett showed up in front of the Jones
camp last night on a bicycle that sported signage that read-
Keeping up with the
Jones.
The Jones family agrees- Truett pulled a
funny there.
The Team Lummus camp came alive big yesterday with big numbers in last nights Test and Tune. The 4-time champ, Travis Lummus ran an 8.866 on the Street Pro ride which is equipped with a brand new motor. Those were the quickest numbers ever recorded in Street Pro and he will need to repeat them this weekend during competition to get the official record marks.
We are a few moments away from resuming qualifying after the oil down.
Stay tuned right here for all of todays results.
Rockingham
Dragway is Rockin.
Jammed
packed pits..real jammed
packed. I am busy at the tower
computer trying to get the gigantic field of racers entered for this weekends
competition, but jumped away for a quick update.
Travis
Lummus has joined the 8 second club in Street Pro competition.
Lummus
nailed a 8.970 at 151.49mph earlier and followed later with a 8.866 at
152.07mph.
Bill
Furr has guests here in Rockingham all the way from Australia. Rider Craig Bonwick is here from Sydney
and riding a Bill Furr machine that will be returning with the team to
Australia.
Vendor
row , the pits and the campgrounds are Standing Room Only at 8pm.
Stay
tuned for a huge weekend of racing from The Rock.
