Good night Arizona!

Sunday-April 3rd

Elimination Day

Update from Firebird at 5:02pm (PT) Sportsman classes are into semi final rounds and we will be ready for the finals in all classes immediately following those rounds!

We will continue filing all updates on the ladders so we can keep them flowing more frequentlyÉ.stay tuned for big finishes here today.

Update from elimination day-  We are rolling along in Arizona.  WeÕve had a few computer issues in the tower that have caused delays, but making the best of it and doing our best to get finished on time.

We are keeping the ProÕs on an hour run schedule- therefore the run order has been varied quite a bit today.

WeÕll continue to do our very best to get you updated as quick as possible on the website, while we keep things running here too.

The show fires off with a 6.610 at 210.64 from Stordeur to advance.  He will take on Drums Brancaccio in round two in a re-match from the final in Gainesville.

The postings are underway on the result pages.  We plan to stay with the ladders most of the day for updates to keep the results coming at you quicker, but will stop by and drop any special breaking news and updates here on the news page when possible.

ItÕs hot today..90Õs expected!

Good morning from Firebird IntÕl Raceway.  TodayÕs show is set to begin at 12:30pm.

(Arizona does not observe daylight savings time).

The Syn3 ET class will run 3 rounds of eliminations at 9:30am, followed by one round a piece in SE, SEP and SS to obtain 16 bike fields in all classes.  Over 75 bikes ran in yesterdays ET qualifying rounds.

In Pro qualifying news- John Breckenridge and Phil Schmidt ran identical 7.515Õs in Kresto Pro Drag.  The compulink computer should have been set to break a tie by the MPH, but they had it set to break a tie by the first one that made the score. It was corrected this morning and it puts John Breckenridge in the #1 spot and Phil Schmidt in the 2nd spot.

We will be back with the numbers from todayÕs action after todayÕs opening rounds at 12:30pm.

Saturday- April 2nd

Qualifying Day at Firebird International Raceway

Final Round Notes-

Final Round complete..finallyÉ

Lots of breakage, a few oil downs, and several timing device encounters made for a long day, but all is well in the end.

Steve Stordeur sits out the final round-happy with the top spot.  Romine gets the #2 spot.  Ron Houniet jumped to the 4th spot in the full field here this weekend.

(Another update from the medical center on Heidner is he suffered a broken wrist and besides the road rash, the wrist appears to be his only injury and we are all happy to hear that).

HeidnerÕs pass was good enough for the #5 spot, but it was later pointed out that the bike encountered the wall-which would eliminate the run- even in a crash.  This moved everyone up a position and gives Chicago Joe the bump spot with a 7.607.

And more..

Streeter left before the tree activated on his final lap appearance that resulted in no time recorded in JIMS Pro Fuel, but it would not affect his position after a 6.977 earlier pass awarded him the #1 spot.

Back tomorrow with all the elimination results that get underway at 12:30pm.

Good night from Arizona!

Feazell redeems his spot at the top with a 7.518 best for the Jon Miller/ThielÕs Wheel team in S & S Cycle Pro Stock.

Still going at it..ScreaminÕ Eagle Nitro Harley in the box..under the lights at Firebird.

**Note: Last report from medical center that transported Steve Heidner is plenty of road rash, but stable and doing fine.  We will fill you in when the Competition Motorcycles team returns to the track.

Matt Guidera stays on top in S & S Pro Gas despite a final round infraction that DQÕd the run.

Ainsworth hangs on to his top spot in Pro Mod while Pippin keeps it at #2 spot.  Paul Smith is the #3 man and former champ Cliff Dwy is 4th out of the 11 entries here this weekend.

Sternotti takes the SS124 class to the 9Õs!  A 9.970 at 134.97mph gives him the top spot after 3 rounds and a chance to back up the numbers comes tomorrow in eliminations.

Mike Roberts takes his #1 spot back from Burdynski in the final with a 10.116 improved lap.  Burdynski held the #2 spot with his 10.189.

More from qualifying-

Steve Heidner ran the third best time in the field with a 6.764 at 208.42mph, but unfortunately took a big end spill.  Top end reported it got wobbly on him and tossed him off.  He was plenty alert and talking to medical personnel- reporting pain in his wrist, and a good share of road rash.  He has been transported for complete evaluation as to the extent of injuries.  We will share any updates we receive by end of qualifying today.

H-D of Rockin rider, Matt Guidera has the top spot in S & S Pro Gas.

Chris Streeter continues his successful season start in JIMS Pro Fuel-leading the field after one lap with a 6.977 at 191.84mph.

ItÕs Dave Feazell in the top seat in S & S Pro Stock with the hair colorful Dale Raudenbush in the 2nd spot.

Track clean up continues and we will continue the numbers following the final pair of Nitro Harleys.

Quick update from Firebird-

Qualifying continues in round one with a few delays for oil and breakage-otherwise all is well.

The sportsman classes have one round under their belt and the pros are on the track now.

Notes from round one:

Julia Holliday is at the top of the class in S & S Super Sport after one lap.

Joey Sternotti, the Street Pro Champ is riding the new S & S 124 class this weekend and loving the results as he sits in the number one spot with a new record time in the class of 10.275 at 132.88mph.  Rob Schopf holds the records currently and is here himself this weekend, although not on the same ride from Gainesville.  Turns out Schopf and his wife were in Arizona enjoying a little riding during Bike Week and got a call from someone wanting to borrow his riding skills for the weekend.  After a quick permission slip from his wife- Schopf accepted and is here on the borrowed ride- getting it up to speed for the owner and gaining a few points for himself.

We are back in action after the delay and the numbers are coming up shortly.

We will have all the results for you the entire weekend right here on www.ahdra.com.
