Ray Cooper keeps the top spot in Rucker Performance Super Gas with his earlier 9.706 and Blake Holliday and Scott Martin are #2 and #3.

James EmpeyÕs 10.307 in the opening round of S & S Super Sport was good enough for the #1 qualifying spot.  Joe Garibaldi finishes 2nd with a 10.313 and Mike Harrison J grabs the 3rd spot with a 10.32.

Terry Vaughan stays on top for all three rounds in ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod while Robert McConnell keeps #2.

Michael Ray scores two spots at the top today with the #1 position in both ScreaminÕ Eagle Destroyer and SSC 124 racing.  Ray is still seeking the back-up of his round No.1 record pass in Destroyer qualifying.

5:15pm

Final Round Qualifying

All Pro classes have completed todayÕs qualifying sessions and some of the sportsman are complete.  We are finishing up the final rounds of remaining sportsman classes now.  Stay tuned for the final numbers from all classes at the conclusion of todayÕs session.

Tracy Kile sits out the final lap in ScreaminÕ Eagle Top Fuel with the #1 qualifying position secure at 6.64.

Vancil runs a 6.68 and keeps the #2 spot with his earlier 6.65.

Ron Houniet improves big and moves to the 3rd spot with a 6.67 (208mph)- his best of the day.

Drums Brancaccio puts the Latus Motors H-D ride in the 4th spot with his final lap best- 6.81 at 200mph.

Joe Timmons, Mike Scott, Chicago Joe and Tony Ruggiero remain 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.

Tommy Grimes had one shot left to get in the field and pulls to the box and fires and the team signals to shut it off.  No word on the problem, but Grimes is currently 1st alternate.   Tony Ruggiero torched a head in todayÕs opening round and he sits in the #8 spot. GrimesÕ chance to get in tomorrowÕs show may evolve from RuggieroÕs demise.

Breckenridge stays No. 1 in JIMS Pro Fuel with his 2nd round 6.90-Jim Fagan runs a better number (7.024) and stays #2.

(Heidner attempted to run in this round but shuts if off after the burnout).

Rick Moore makes huge move in the 3rd and final lap of Kresto Pro Drag qualifying –clocking a 7.328 at 179mph to take the top spot from Will Simplot who led two rounds.

Mike Lozano makes a leap of his own in S & S Pro Gas.  Struggling in the first two rounds, the champ comes back in the 3rd round with a 7.637 at 163mph for the top spot.

Borho runs his best of the day (8.65-152mph) in the final round and maintains the top spot in Samson Pro Modified all day.

Andy Simon sets a new record in G2 Street Pro in his final lap of the day- 8.61 at 157mph!

Croneberger run his best of the day in the final session- 10.102 and stays the #1 qualifyer.

Dave Diedrich keeps his top spot in Syn3 ET with the perfect .000.

No one catches Michael RayÕs 9.19 in the Destroyer field and he stays No.1 after 3 rounds.

Eleanor Walker and Liz Davis stay #1 and #2 in SEP qualifying.

3:00pm

The sportsman classes are out for todayÕs final session of qualifying.

Stay tuned for the numbers following the conclusion of the round.

Round Two Qualifying

Not much improvement in todayÕs 2nd ScreaminÕ Eagle Top Fuel session and Kile keeps the top spot with is earlier 6.64 at 208mph.  Joe Timmons did improve (6.833) and is 3rd.

Tommy Grimes makes his first attempt at the field today and coasted through the traps with a 15.295 after a motor switch.  The team has one shot left to get in the field.

We did not see the Competition Motorcycle bike that was teched in for Steve Heidner (Pro Fuel) in this round.  His leathers arrived to the track just moments before 2nd round, so we may still see them in todayÕs final session.

News from Phil SchmidtÕs camp is a blown transmission after the round one attempt.

Breckenridge gets in the six-zone in JIMS Pro Fuel (6.90) and keeps the top spot.  Chris Streeter makes his first pass of the day (7.151) and is in the 3rd spot behind Jim FaganÕs 7.133 at 194mph for the 2nd spot.

Joe Sternotti takes over the top spot in S & S Pro Gas with a 7.74 at 166mph. Scott Pollacheck who did not get a time in round No. 1 due to a computer problem came out in the 2nd session and gets the No. 2 spot with a 8.01 at 163mph.  Pollacheck can elect to take an extra run later due to the tower error on his earlier run.  Stan Sheppard who led the field after the first round is now 3rd.  Mike Lozano makes his first pass of the day and gets in the No. 6 spot with a 9.06 at 109mph.

Will Simplot goes faster in Kresto Pro Drag and stays No.1 with a 7.387 at 171.95mph.

G2 Street Pro leader, Andy Simon waited for the tree this time and clocks a 8.654 at 156mph in the heat of the day here at Woodburn Dragstrip.  Stute moves to the No. 2 spot.

Randy Borho does not improve in Samson Pro Mod round No. 2, but maintains the top spot.

2:00pm-

The ProÕs are in the lanes for todayÕs 2nd session.   Stay tune for the numbers following the conclusion of the round.

Pro Fuel note:  Steve Heidner plans to return to competition here at Woodburn Dragstrip.  He missed round one when his Fed Ex shipped leathers had not arrived, but we received word in the tower the package has arrived- meaning we could see Heidner in todayÕs 2nd round.

Sportsman Round Two-

In Rucker Performance Super Gas, Ray Cooper and the Mile High H-D team have the No. 1 spot with a 9.706 on the 9.70 index class ad Blake Holliday is close to the mark himself with a 9.707 and in the 3rd spot is Scott Martin who is close with an 9.709.

Terry Vaughan has led the ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod order for two rounds so far and in S & S Super Sport James EmpeyÕs 10.307 from round No. 1 is still the best number after two sessions in the 10.30 index category.

Bruce Croneberger leads the Drag Masters Hot Street field with his round one 10.116 at 129.66 and the Champ, Mike Roberts is 2nd with his earlier 10.392.  Roberts had problems with this 2nd pass in Hot Street qualifying, but in SSC 124 racing, Roberts leads the field with a 9.529 at 141.28mph best.

Dean Druschel stays No. 1 in Performance Corner Super Eliminator with his earlier 10.916 and Roberta Seaman stays No. 2 for both sessions with a 10.927 against the 10.90 index.

Eleanor Walker hangs on to her SEP top spot and Hyper Liz Davis takes over the #2 spot with a 11.528.

Dave Diedrich takes over the #1 spot in Syn3 ET with the perfect .000 light.  Robbie McCaa moves to No. 2 with his earlier .004.

Michael Ray did not improve or back up his record number (9.192-143.33mph) in the 2nd session of Destroyer qualifying, but he maintains the top spot and still has plenty of time left to get the record.

12noon-

Oil down delay- Syn3 ET is standing by in the lanes for todayÕs 2nd session that will be underway as soon as the track clean up is complete.

Round One:

Pro Qualifying notes:

Tracy Kile landed the best score for the ScreaminÕ Eagle Top Fuel pole after one session.  Kile clocked an 6.647 at 208mph in front of Doug VancilÕs 6.653 at 214mph.  Tommy Grimes is here this weekend, but the Ray Price Samson Racing team chose to sit out the opener with possible fuel problems.  We look for them to make their first pass in Round No.2.

Stan SheppardÕs 8.300 at 156mph was good enough for the No. 1 spot in S & S Pro Gas.

Will Simplot clocked a nice 7.485 at 172mph to take the pole in Kresto Pro Drag.  Simplot took his first 06 win in Sturgis earlier this month.

Willie Herschberger is the #2 qualifyer with a 7.557 at 170mph.

Steve Stute from very nearby- Gladstone, OR takes command early in G2 Street Pro qualifying with a 8.98 at 148mph for the No. 1 spot.  Also a local favorite, Verl ÒSmittyÓ Smith took the 2nd spot with an 9.255 at 148mph.  Missing from the line-up after one round is the performance favorite- Andy Simon.  Simon left before the tree activated and received no time on his opening lap.

Another local grabbed the #1 spot- this time in Samson Pro Modified.  Randy Borho leads the pack after one round with a 8.824 at 152mph in front of Bruce BarkerÕs 8.898 at 144mph for the No. 2 spot.

Sportsman qualifying notes:

Robbie McCaa leads the Syn3 ET qualifying charts after one round with a .004.

Michael Ray shakes up the record numbers (both E.T. and MPH) in V-Rod Destroyer racing.

Ray clocked a 9.192 at 143.33mph in his opening pass of the day.

(Don Stratton holds the current record with a 9.216 at 142.70mph).

Ray and Stratton are #1 and #2 in the qualifying order. Stratton ran a 9.287 at 142.42mph for his #2 spot.  Derek Nonnamaker riding the Team Latus H-D Destroyer is 3rd with his 9.329 at 142.24mph while Valerie Thompson clocked a 9.383 at 141.62mph to round out the top four.

Eleanor Walker starts her day on top in the SEP category with an 11.508 against the 11.50 index.  Her better half- Charlie didnÕt do as well on his opening pass with a 11.400 for the bottom spot at #26.  A ladder based on that order could pair the couple in round No. 1 of eliminationÕs, so all bets are that Charlie will improve before the day ends to prevent that from happening.

Sportsman qualifying continues..stay tuned for the numbers on the result pages.

9:00am

The bikes are fired and ready to go here at Woodburn Dragstrip.

Syn3 ET (with just over 70 entries in the field) are in the lanes as racing gets underway with pleasant sunny skies-although the forecast calls for very hot (mid 90Õs) later today.

AHDRA welcomes this weekendÕs event sponsor- Team Latus Motors Harley-Davidson.   The dealership is well represented here at the track both on the track and at their impressive display in the pits.

As many of you know, Oregon native Steve Dorn piloted the Latus H-D Top Fuel bike before his unfortunate accident in Texas back in April.  The good news is Dorn is here this weekend and after four surgeries is on the mend.  Dorn plans to be back in the saddle in Las Vegas.  Meanwhile,  Latus H-D and bike owner, Dorn have put Drums Brancaccio in the seat here at Woodburn Dragstrip.  Brancaccio took a test lap on the bike in yesterdayÕs test and tune and early results show he will be a good fit for the 175ci machine.  Brancaccio came off the trailer with a 6.80 at 207mph to get things started.

Stay tuned for todayÕs opening round of Top Fuel qualifying (around 12noon) to see if Brancaccio can maintain or improve the pace.

Right now, Syn3 ET round No. 1 continues.  We will follow up with todayÕs round results at the conclusion of the session.

Back with more later.
