ThatÕs a wrap from the Roeder Harley-Davidson Ohio Bike Week Nationals with a huge crowd on hand for a fantastic weekend at Summit Motorsports Park!

 

This weekendÕs event was in memory of our own Josh Tharpe- and how proud he would be of the show that it was!!  We love you buddy.

Elimination Day at Summit Motorsports Park- Norwalk, OH

Here come the finals!

 

Top Fuel-  Dean Comunal takes a Top Fuel win over Jay Turner with an incredible 6.47 at 213mph!  Congratulations to Comunal who entered competition late in the season and takes it all the way to the winnerÕs circle here in Norwalk!

 

Pro Stock-

Big time upset when Pippin is broke on the line and O.J. Marinelli cruises to the win on a solo pass and on his birthday!! 

 

Pro Fuel-

Douglas Horne is quicker than Turner (6.71 to a 6.73) but Turner gets the win on a .052 holeshot to a .124 from Horne for the win- furthering TurnerÕs pointÕs lead.  Turner will be back shortly for the Top Fuel final! 

 

Pro Gas-

Dave Feazell clocks a .007 reaction and takes the win over Junior Pippin.

 

Pro Drag-

David Hope reports in broke and misses out on his very first final.  Rick Moore came to the line and broke the beam for the solo win.

 

Pro Mod-

Upset for Borho as he breaks in the water box and Hannum breaks the beam before he too shuts off-  Tommy Hannum gets the win on the single.

 

Street Pro-

Zach Johnson runs a 9.08 and Danny Worth runs 8.96, but Johnson takes the win on the holeshot.  JohnsonÕs 2nd win of the season.

 

Super Gas-

Don Stratton runs a perfect-dead-on 9.700 and takes the win over Steve Raines.

 

V-Rod-

#1 Gerencer takes the win over the champ- McNaughton.

 

Super Sport-

Lewallen takes his 2nd consecutive win over Dormeus in the Super Sport final.

 

SSC-

Mike Roberts takes on Lou Gerencer for another win 124 win!

 

Super Eliminator-

Druschel takes three-in-a-row in SE competition after defeating Bill Rowe Jr.

 

Hot Street- 

Levak, Jr. loses power and Bruce Croneberger cruises to another win!

 

ET-

Huffman nails his dial-in (11.52) and takes the win over Curtis Talbott.

 

Destroyer-

Good leave for both and Wanda Poff gets close to the wall but recovers as L.E. Tonglet takes the win on his best pass of the weekend- 9.21!  TongletÕs 5th win of the season.

 

SEP-

Kevin Winters defeats Brad Croneberger in the final.

 

 

 

SemiÕs are complete- We are running the Barnett Nitro Harley Outlaws and then we will head to the finals here at Summit Motorsports Park.

Semi Final Rounds Update- (track temp- 115)

 

 

ET- Donnie Huffman took out Heather Mallory who had a good weekend here.  Huffman will take on Curtis Talbott who advanced over Rick McWaters.

 

Destroyer-  Wanda Poff advances to the final on a bye.  She will take on L.E. Tonglet who rode to his 5th event win of the 2007.  Tonglet got by a strong running Don Stratton Jr.

 

SEP- Kevin Winters stops Dean Druschel from a double final round appearance with a win in the semis.  Winters will take on Brad Croneberger who upset Charlie Walker.

Croneberger could make it a family celebration should both he and his brother, Bruce win  their respective categories today.

 

Super Eliminator-  Dean Druschel goes to his 3rd consecutive final after taking out Jimmy McMillan.  Druschel will meet up with Bill Rowe Jr. in the final.  The #1 and #2 points leaders battle it out here in Norwalk.

 

Super Sport-  #1 qualifyer,Dave Doremus runs strong all day.  He defeats Boyer in the semi and will take on Bryan Lewallen in the final who took the win over a red-lighting Charlie Douglass.  ItÕs a  back-to-back match up between this pair who met in the Georgia finals.

 

V-Rod-  Lou Gernecer ahead all the way against Lesnock in the semi and will go to the final against Jamie McNaughton who advanced over Edmondson. 

 

Super Gas-

Don Stratton Jr. clocks a 9.71 against the 9.70 index and will take on Steve Raines in the Super Gas final.

 

Pro Mod- Morry Straubel was out in front of Tommy Hannum, but the #1 qualifyer, Straubel lost his power and shuts off while Hannum gets the win light. 

Borho and Krenik pair up in a great race and Borho stops KrenikÕs win streak and ties the national record (8.787) for the win.

 

Pro Drag- Rick Moore advances to back-to-back event finals after advancing over Dave Ostrowske.  Two nitro newbies- Sonny Burres and David Hope pair up in the semis and Burres thows a belt.  Hope who just recently received his license will head to the final against the Champ- Rick Moore.

 

Pro Gas-Pippin advances to back-to-back event double finals!  HeÕll take on Dave Feazell who advanced over Mike Nelson.

 

Pro Fuel-Douglas Horne flyin in Pro Fuel with a 6.71 at 210mph to advance over Steve Simmons to his 2nd consecutive final.

The champ, Armon Furr pairs up with points leader Jay Turner-and Furr boils the tire as Turner blazes by with a 6.70 at 206mph.  It will be Turner and Horne in todays Pro Fuel final.

 

Pro Stock- Mark Venia goes red as Junior Pippin clocks an 8.16 and heads to the final against O.J. Marinelli who advanced on the bye.

 

Top Fuel-  Dean Comunal upsets Doug Vancil after Vancil smokes the tire.

Jay Turner runs fastest pass of the weekend 6.47 at 213.91mph to advance over Joey Sternotti.  Turner and Comunal are headed to the final.

 

 

2:40pm-  EliminationÕs coming along nicely here at Summit Motorsports Park.  We are just slightly behind schedule, (about ½ hour).  The ProÕs 2nd rounds are being called to the lanes and we should be set to go around 3:00pm with Top Fuel.  Stay tuned for results on the ladder pages following the rounds.

Good morning race fans.  We are in early morning sportsman elimination sessions to narrow the fields with plenty of sunny skies.  The temps are expected to be in mid-70Õs today-and picture perfect for racing!  Stay tuned for hourly result updates on the elimination pages of AHDRAÕs Live Update link!

 

 

Qualifying Day in Norwalk, OH.

 

7:00pm-  All qualifying complete from Summit Motorsports Park.  Join us tomorrow for all the action of eliminations starting at 12:30pm!

 

 

Sportsman Final Round Updates:

ET:  Roberta Seaman stays #1 with the earlier .001 and will be the category #1 qualifyer.

 

Destroyer:  L.E. Tonglet stays flawless in 07 number one qualifyer positions- 6 for 6 as he improves in the final round (9.23) for the pole here in Ohio.

 

SEP:  Josh Perry stayed #1 with his earlier 11.504 and Pendergrast kept 2nd with a 11.505. 

 

Hot Street:  No changes to the run order in the final.  Croneberger keeps the top spot with his 10.212 best while Norlin holds on to #2 with a 10.439.

 

Super Eliminator:  The top four stays unchanged- Bill Rowe Jr. keeps the pole position (10.908) followed by Mallery, Talbott  and Druschel.

 

SSC 124:  Party of four and the order is Mike Roberts- 9.285-top spot followed by Gerencer, Begyn and Chichester.

 

Super Sport- David Doremus jumps to the head of the class with a 10.303 and moves Terry Tripp to the #2 spot with a 10.308.

 

V-Rod- Lou Gerencer keeps the #1 spot with a 9.343.

 

Super Gas- The Champ- Bob Drapp keeps his spot at the top of the chart with a 9.709.

 

 

6:00pm

Final Rounds for the Sportsman on the track now!  Stay tuned for all the numbers on the result pages after the completion of all classes.

 

4:45pm  Round Three Pro Qualifying Updates

 

Top Fuel-  Tommy Grimes rocks the clocks with a 6.45 at 214mph for the top spot and Jay Turner has his best of the day- 6.48 for the #2 spot. 

 

 

Pro Gas:  Junior Pippin keeps the top spot (7.22) and appears to be keeping the top spot in Pro Stock-on the track now, no one bettering his run so far.

 

Pro Fuel:  Horn off the throttle early in his final lap but stays #1 with a 6.712 and Armon Furr improves (6.722) and stays 2nd.   Streeter finds his sweet spot after struggling in opening two rounds- heÕs now 3rd with a 6.88!

 

Pro Drag: Rick Moore runs best of the day in the final round for the top spot (7.59) while newcomer-literally brand new licensed- David Hope rides to the #2 position with a 7.70 at 162mph.

 

Pro Mod:  Morry Straubel does not improve in the final lap of the day, but keeps the top spot with his earlier 8.807.  Greg Krenik had problems in the 2nd lap but stays #2.  Randy Borho running bracket style consistency.  His best coming into the round was a 8.836 and in the third round he clocks a 8.837 to hang on to the third spot.

 

Street Pro:  Danny Worth runs a 8.93-his best of the day to keep #1.  Zach Johnson runs his best of the day as well (8.97) and keeps the #2 spot.

 

 

4:15pm  Round Three Sessions Coming Up!

3:45pm Sportsman Round 2 updates:

 

ET-  Roberta SeamanÕs .001 has her in the top spot of a field of 70 entries.  Joey Talbott is right behind her with a .003, Dan NorlinÕs .006 is the 3rd spot, Jim Van Fleet has a .007 for 4th and Steve Raines is 5th with a .008..lots of .00Õs.  Can Roberta ŌBertĶ Seaman hold on for the top spot in todayÕs final round?  Stay tuned.

 

Super Eliminator-  Heather Mallory gave up her top spot after Bill Rowe Jr. hit the 10.90 number (10.908) and moved Mallory to 2nd with her 10.918.  Curtis Talbott is 3rd. and Dean Druschel- coming off back-to-back wins and leading the pointÕs chase is 4th.

 

SEP- Josh Perry held on to #1 with his 11.504 and Shane Pendergrast is 2nd with a 11.505.

 

Hot Street-  Bruce Croneberger is #1 with a 10.21 best and Dan Norlin is 2nd with a 10.43.

 

Destroyer- Tonglet holds on to #1.  If he finishes the day in the top spot- he will be six-for-six as the #1 man!  Don Stratton Jr.is here today and is 2nd with a 9.32.  And then thereÕs a trio of ladies making up the 3rd, 4th and 5th positions.  ItÕs Wanda Poff, Julia Holliday and Valerie Thompson rounding out the top five!

 

V-Rod-  Lou Gerencer improves and holds on to #1 with a 9.343.

 

SSC 124-  Mike Roberts has company now after round one left him alone in the field after a few weight infractions from others.  After 2nd round, all has checked clear from Tim at the big end and itÕs RobertÕs at the top, followed by Lou Gerencer, Dennis Begyn and Everett Chichester.

 

Super Sport-  Terry Tripp nails a 10.308 and takes the #1 spot from Danny Boyer.

Boyer is 2nd with his 10.321.  Stacey McMillan is #3 with a 10.341.

 

Super Gas- The Champ flexing his skills- Bob Drapp clocks a 9.709 for the #1 spot.

Don Stratton Jr. from right here in Ohio is 2nd in the Super Gas field with a 9.713.

Stratton holds two #2 positions so far- here in Super Gas and in Destroyer competition.

 

2:10pm Pro Qualifying 2nd session.

 

Sportsman qualifying interrupted after Hot Street to head back to the ProÕs.

 

Breaking news from the ProÕs rounds-

 

Top Fuel-Tommy Grimes jumps to the top of the order with a 6.523 at 220mph!!  A few more to go in the Top Fuel field before we head back to the interrupted sportsman 2nd sessions.  Stay tuned.  Next Pro round scheduled for approx. 4:15pm.

 

Pro Fuel-  Douglas Horne takes the top spot from Furr with a 6.71 at 210mph- just shy of backing up his MPH 213 pass in round one.

 

Pro Stock and Pro Gas- Junior Pippin holds #1 in both classes!

 

Pro Drag-  Rookie at 71 years-young- Sonny Burres is leading the Pro Drag field with a 7.873 best.

 

Pro Modified- Where the heck did this guy come from?  ThatÕs the question from fellow competitors in Norwalk.  Morry Straubel is who they are speaking of, and heÕs no newcomer to racing, but is new to AHDRA competition.  HeÕs making his way nicely in the Pro Mod field with the #1 spot after both rounds.  His first pass (8.83) and in round two he holds on to the lead with a 8.80. Record holder, Greg Krenik ran a record breaking 8.77 in last nightÕs test and tune, but hasnÕt managed to hit the number today in competition.  He still has plenty of time left and he is currently 2nd with a 8.82 best.

 

Street Pro-  Danny Worth taking the Street Pro charts by storm with a first win in 2007 and heÕs leading the pack in qualifying with a 9.037.  Zach Johnson is 2nd with a 9.055 best.  Zach became an uncle this weekend and his Dad, Kendall a grandpa of twins!

 

 

12:30pm- Round one of the ProÕs now complete and all sportsman classes have completed a session except for Super Gas which is on the track now. We head into session #2 for sportsman shortly and the ProÕs 2nd session is due out at 1:30pm.

 

 

12:10pm- Top Fuel opening session.

 

Drums Brancaccio opens up the day in the #1 spot with a 6.52 at 204mph.

Steve Dorn goes 6.55 at 207mph for the 2nd spot.

 

Top Fuel Round #1 update-  Bob Malloy throws flames at the launch and has frustrating start to the weekend.

 

Bill Furr gets out of shape early and lifts early to avoid the centerline.

 

Vancil lifts early with problems and Phil Schmidt lifts early as well but manages a 6.82.

 

Shigematsu smokes the tire early on a troubled run and Dean Comunal throws sheet metal from the bike but clocks a 6.68.

 

Kevin Boyer has a squirrelly start, as does Jack Romine who smoked the tire.

 

Sternotti boils the tire in his opener.

 

 

11:50am Track temp 103

Qualifying session #1  update- Douglas Horne opens up the Pro Fuel session with a 6.86 at 213.16 mph!!  New national MPH on tap if he can back it up.  Armon Furr follows with a 6.72 at 212mph- again a new MPH record pass waiting to be backed up.  Current record is 211.71 held by Jay Turner from Gainesville Raceway.  Tuner smoked the tire and managed only a 7.26 but still was over the 200mph mark at 204mph. Pro Fuel wrapped up with Armon Furr taking the pole.  A blazing round of Top Fuel should be ahead!!

AHDRA Roeder Harley-Davidson Ohio Bike Week Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park!   Whew..IÕll probably only type that out once today.

 

The weather is beautiful, the facility re-model job is incredible (but my elevator is not working yet- 98 steps to the tower J , the pits are full and we are racing in Norwalk, OH!
