Good evening from Pacific Raceways..It's Friday..it's raining..and the pits are filling up quickly! A big big welcome to Dale Nungesser!! A surprise to us all when he arrived..he looks marvelous! We'll have more on his comeback later.
The weather forecast is questionable throughout the weekend, so stay tuned for more on that when we see what's in store tomorrow from Pacific Raceways!

SUNNY SEATTLE ???

Good morning from a partly sunny Seattle! It's qualifying day, and it looks like mother nature has taken a turn on our side! (For now anyway) Welcome to opening day at the Kresto Pacific Nationals presented by Destination Harley-Davidson and Eastside Harley-Davidson.
We would like to take this time to thank the staff of Kresto for coming out to support this weekend's event. Also on site, the staff from Performance Corner, the 2002 Super Eliminator Class Sponsor, as well as the staff from Eastside H-D and Destination H-D, the presenting sponsors of this weekend's racing action! Speaking of comebacks, the AHDRA welcomes back veteran tech official, Paul Wyant! Paul was injured earlier this year in a motorcyle accident, but is on the mend and at the big end, heading up the scales and fuel checks! Welcome back Paul!
The drivers meeting is coming up at 10:00am and qualifying will follow! Stay tune for the latest updates and results! (East coast fans..reminder..3 hour time difference)

Qualifying Update!
Qualifying is underway..with JIMS Top Fuel wrapping up..Ron Houniet has the top spot with a 6.89 at 200.80 miles-per-hour! Pretty incredible, considering the traction problems most of the 1st round qualifyers have encountered. We're hoping for improvements for round two, with help from the Pacific Raceeway track crew!

Third Round News..
We are on competition hold, after Toni Froehling (Pro Dragster #8 qualifyer) lifted a cylinder in third round qualifying causing him to take a hard spill off the bike. He is alert, talking and is currently being transported via EMT for a complete check. The accident took place at the 330 mark, and early reports say there are no visible signs of serious injury. We will keep you posted of any updates. The track is being cleaned up and clouds are looming..final round results coming asap!

Good News from the Froehling Team!
Toni Froehling has returned to the track following yesterday's accident. He's a little banged up, but hanging in there.
"I can't believe it happened, but hey, I spent 15 minutes at the hospital, and now I'm back at the track. I can't move around too good, but I'm okay". This from Toni as he rested in his pit under a blanket and enjoying a cigar.
The skies are cloudy here at Pacific Raceways, but we should get the race in with no problem. Coming up at 11am, Children's Ride 7 arrives,with an expected 1800-2000 riders! Rumor has it, the sun may even make an appearance. With mostly 8 bike fields, we look for a smooth run today, as we have to be finished by 5:30pm. (Noise restrictions)More to come..

Finals Complete! Houniet wins JIMS Top Fuel!
The skies were threating down to the finish, but the event was completed and smiles flooded the stands, as Ron Houniet rode his bike still under fire from his JIMS Top Fuel winning pass right to victory lane!
The win now moves Canadian, Houniet into the top spot in the National points as the battle continues between he and fellow competitor Dave O'Hara. More from this weekend's event coming next week!
