Back at AHDRA headquarters from "The Rock"! Elimination rounds can now be found at the bottom of this page! A few other highlights..in addition to Feazell's Pro Gas Records, which were 7.431/148.97, Doug Morrow and the Carl's Speed Shop Team bettered the Spyke Street Pro Records with a 9.270 quarter mile and a new 1/8th mile record of 5.916 Congratulations Dave & Doug!
Please note there were several alternates inserted into the program in various classes on Sunday, that would show riders previous listed as non qualifyers..including Chris Streeter who was inserted into the Pro Fuel category.

We're racing at the Rock! Good afternoon from Rockingham Dragway. Last night, was one for the record books, when Steve Earwood of Rockingham Dragway,says he thinks it was the biggest Friday night turnout ever. Racers from the East and West rolled in all day and night. The entries are still coming, but we may hit 300. The JIMS Top Fuel field is jammed packed with 22 entries so far! Steve Moore..Chicago Joe...Steve Huff...Mark Conner riding the McClure ride..Jay Turner..Mark Cox..Shigematsu..Sloan..lots more! So many bikes...
No where else but AHDRA..27 Top Fuel Bikes in Round One!
Thats right..fans were treated to a full hour of JIMS Top Fuel qualifying as 27 bikes took the track. It wasn't necessarily earth shattering performances as tire spinning, hot temps made a 7.01 the top number.
Track prep was added for Round #2..and better numbers should be on the way.
Back to that earlier story..Orangeburg Cycles Bill Furr introduced his new 60 degree Hammer motor right here in AHDRA competition.
Though it's basically the same style as the Hammer motor, it's main feature is the 60 degree V instead of the standard 45 degrees.
Instead of Furrs normal one common throttle body, the 60 degree Hammer has two. Dual injection allows the 4.75 bore and 5" stroke much more power in the quarter mile. Utilizing the same style crank, rod, piston, it's a Hammer through & through.

Furr's in the #13 spot of a field with nearly as many bikes on the outside as the inside of the 16 bike field.
Other news, Tim Kerrigan brought out his brand new Top Fuel ride and had spun the tire after a slippery burnout. He'll be back to give it another shot in round two. He was able to capture the #1 Pro Fuel spot after round one.
Tii Tharpe and Team 911..haven't heard the name in a while? That's because the Wood Precision Cycle team has been anxiously awaiting the new Top Fuel machine..from the man himself, Jim McClure. The bike is here and Tii is taking steps to adjust to this new monster!

Congrats Gabe Larkins and Hot Rod City Customs! Larkins riding in the nitro ranks in his first season has made all the right moves in his quest to pilot the Pro Drag entry. He now holds his first #1 qualifying position right here at The Rock. Larkins is just one of the many West Coast boys making the trip to compete here this weekend.

Hannon plans to move on to other things, but promises to still make appearances at the track as a true fan of drag racing. He is a hero to the sport, and we salute you and wish you the very best Bill Hannon!

Good morning from Rockingham Dragway. Skies are sunny and temps are noticeably cooler, but today's show will no doubt heat things up. Yesterday's qualifying was one of the toughest of the season, with huge fields, and mechanical turmoil causing upsets for some and celebrations for others.

Steve Huff traveled from Seattle, WA to compete in the JIMS Top Fuel field, but on his first round out he had big trouble. "We blew the back completely out of the clutch basket", Huff explained while carrying the culprit around in disbelief. "No one has ever seen anything like it. This is a first for me, not making the field. We're really disappointed."
More disappointment when the Bojangles, Mark Cox Racing Team finished in the #18 spot, two shy of the 16- bike field. Cox struggled all day, and after examining the jackshaft entry last night, discovered one of the cams was out of time. No word yet on any "no shows" for elimination's, but Cox is 2nd alternate and would love to have a spot in today's show.

Houniet and O'Hara continue the fight for Championship honors, both traveling 3000 miles to compete at "The Rock". Houniet battled the track in round one, leaving him in the 27th spot, but the Fastlane Team bonded with the ¼ mile strip by the final round and returned to his performance level wit a 6.860 and the only 200 mph pass of the day. O'Hara should have plenty of power left in the Hell Racing machine with his best number a 7.038. It was good enough to get him in the #6 spot and he will take on Doc Hopkins in the opening round of eliminations.

Dave Feazell is pushing for the record with his "all throttle, no bottle" Pro Gas entry. He holds the #1 spot with his 7.600 qualifying finish. Dan Vance and the D & S Cycle team are in the #2 spot on the Bill Adorno piloted machine. Frank Dove nearly missed competing yesterday when starter problems left him circling the pits in search of assistance. Bill Furr came to his rescue, and Dove sends a special thanks to Furr for getting him in this weekends show.

Gabe Larkins and the Hot Rod City Customs team are plenty happy with the rookie riders accomplishments, landing his first #1 qualifying spot in yesterdays Pro Dragster category. Larkins sends a special hello to his daughter back home!

Jay Turner was smiling big last night, finishing in the #1 Pro Fuel spot with a 7.298, while Tim Kerrigan has his hands full getting to know his brand new Top Fueler. TheRed Line Oil team was able to come away with the #2 Pro Fuel position. Kerrigan says there is definitely a difference in the two machines..I could definitely feel the difference on that launch", the Pro Fuel champ commented. Mike Lehman spit the chain in the last two rounds, but his earlier 7.589 was good enough to get him in the #6 spot. Not so fortunate, Chris Streeter and the FBM Racing team who did not make today's Pro Fuel field after problems left them in the #9 spot of the 8-bike field.

Old Glory Racing has plenty to be proud of, after finishing ahead of the big boys of Pro Stock last night,
Dale Raudenbush ran a 7.660, moving him ahead of Champion Tom Bradford, and the highly skilled, Dan Baisley. Yesterday, the Hannon/Baisley pair announced this to be their final race together. Baisley is not sure of any future plans for riding on a new team, but I know his many fans are hoping to see him back on the track. The record setting Portland, OR rider has been a great asset to the drag racing sport, and we hope to see him back!
Dirk Higgins and the Jon Miller/ Thiels Wheels team are in the #4 spot, and should be able to lock up the Pro Stock East Coast Championship this weekend.

Street Pro qualifying left the Carl's Speed Shop Team happy with the 9.365 top spot and the top speed of 142.87. Nick Gonatas lifted eyebrow's with his #2 finish. "He's a great kid", the Morrow's commented. "If he wins, he deserves it, they have earned it", Morrow added. Travis Lummus has nothing to lose, with a wrapped up three-peat Championship. He's in the #3 spot and faces Tom Crabtree in Round One.

Congrats to Ronnie Fensick (HD of Seaford) last night's "King of the Rock" winner. Fensick took home a cool $2,000 cash!

Eliminations are set for 1230pm today, with Bill Furr and the 60-degree machine leading off the show. Stay tuned..It's going to be a jammed pack day of action!

Gabe Larkins runs his quickest ever and headed to the Pro Drag finals against another West Coaster, Ken Wright.
Houniet & Conner headed to the JIMS Top Fuel Final. The one and two in Joker Machine Pro Modified headed to the final..Dwy (MADRAS, OR) will face Lozano! The final results coming up soon. All rounds not yet listed from today's competition will be posted asap.
