REMAINING RESULTS POSTED AT END OF PAGE

Good morning from Norwalk Raceway Park. Qualifying is underway for the Juniors and ET riders under partly sunny skies. Temps are forecasted for low 70's, and early rain was predicted , but so far, we are all dry! There is no shortage of bikes, after a huge gate line-up yesterday, and early this morning. Nearly 30 Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys teched in so far, and and a great field in Rivera-Primo Street Pro, as well as huge fields in SEP, Syn3 ET and Dragmasters Hot Street. A long haul for many riders, including Kresto Pro Drag competitor, Steve Dorn all the way from Oregon, and also making the Oregon haul, Randy Borho, here to compete in Street Pro.
In fuel action, Jay Turner is back with double fuel entries following a trip to the finals in both JIMS Pro Fuel, and Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley competition at AHDRA's Commerce GA event.
Turner won the Pro Fuel contest, but Steve Stordeur was the top fuel winner.
Stordeur and the Mancuso HD team barely made this weekend's event, after a schedule conflict. They are here now, and standing by to better the ET national record. Jake Silcox went 6000 miles out of his way, to compete here this weekend.
Silcox of Bristol, TN drove to British Columbia to purchase a brand new bike from Dave O'Hara. He loaded the nitro beauty on the trailer, and headed here for the Roeder HD Buckeye Nationals. Silcox will put the bike on the track for it's first pass today. Stand-By Mr. O'Hara..we'll let you know how the tuning goes.

Round Two underway..ET and SEP leading off the round two action, before going back into next round of Pros. Round One crowd pleaser was the Mark Conner's 6.659 pass in Pro Fuel and a 6.898 from local favorite, Chris Streeter.
Also a pair of six second zone passes from Jay Turner and Russ Hildenbrand.
In Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Top Fuel, Vancil leads the pack and Johnny Mancuso is happy he made the trip, with the #2 position after one round. Welcome back Tony Mattioli, who is making a comeback here at Norwalk Raceway, after a 2002 accident in Bradenton, Fl.
Mattioli came out plenty confident, but blew a belt on the DJ Johnson bike.
The Street Pro bikes are headed back to the lanes..stay tuned for more and a complete listing of qualifying results from all classes of competition at the end of today's session.

Good morning from Norwalk Raceway Park!
Beautiful sunny skies although the forecast says differently. We're hoping for continued
blue skies. ESPN2 will be on site today rolling the cameras, and thre's lots of action ahead. The updates will come as quick as I can get to them today, so stand-by and we'll try and get something posted for you following complete rounds.

Elimintions Underway
Round One Eliminations-

Screamin’ Eagle Nitro Harley
Bill Furr upset in opening round after spinning the tire early. Chad Cox will advance to next round. Vancil and Derrickson shut off at the line after possible debris was spotted on the track. They will get a chance to line up again later. Mancuso had a smooth 6.47 to advance over Dean Comunal and the best side- by -side action so far when Jack Romine and Mark Cox took the track. Romine was in and out of the groove but never let off the throttle, giving him the win with a 6.53 over Mark Cox’s close 6.55 finish.
Vacil re-run with no problems, with the quickest progressives of the round. Vancil advances to round Two with a 6.91 over Derrickson.

Bradford advances on the single in Pro Stock. Bradford looking good in double classes today with the #1 qualifying spot in both Pro Stock and Pro Gas. Dale Raudenbush did not make the Round One call in round one sending Mark Collier out on a single. Dirk Higgins makes it to round number two over George Farrell.

Mark Conner consistent with another 6.65 in opening round over Mark Derrickson. Conner set the new ET and MPH record in yesterday’s qualifying. The MPH record has been owned by Tony Mattioli since 1998 with a 199.21 that was backed up with a 207mph pass. Conner finished yesterday’s qualifying with the high mph of 205.60. Tony Mattiole returned to racing here at Norwalk after his 2002 accident in Bradenton Florida. He came out in round one, but mechanical problems kept him to one pass for the weekend.

RAIN DELAY AT NORWALK RACEWAY PARK
Shortly after my last posting, rains took over at Norwalk Raceway. Quite a big downpour and we are still examing the radar for any possibilities of getting the event in.
We have no curfew here and they are a track with lights, so it could happen.
I'll return with more info when available.



THE RAIN HAS STOPPED.
It is 6:30pm the rain has just stopped. The track officials have the track dryer out now. It could be another 2 hours before the drying process is complete. Stay tuned for an update if racing is able to resume.

THE SHOW WILL GO ON!

It is 9:30 pm and the Norwalk crew has the track almost ready for action. We may be forced to resume with 1/8 mile restrictions due to the shut down area conditions. A long night could be ahead. We will file a report on the outcome when possible. Believe it or not, a full crowd was on hand when the rains took over and the diehards waited it out. We hope to be racing soon.

And here’s the latest:

The majority vote is to go with 1/4 mile racing. Therefore it could be another 45 minutes before we start. Any further information will be posted as time allows


IT’S 2:00 am!
Racing had to be canceled when the rains came back, so they will attempt to resume on Monday. Lisa will be traveling on Monday morning, but results will be coming in.

HERE’S A MONDAY UPDATE:
The bikes are running in Norwalk. So far here’s what’s happening. Doug Vancil and Chad Cox are headed to the finals in Top Fuel. Travis Lummus beat Doug Morrow in the Street Pro final. Tom Bradford won Pro Gas and is headed to Pro Stock finals. Susie Wevodau wins Super Sport. This information is being phoned in by Lisa from the airport and she will update as soon as she reaches her destination.

Norwalk-Monday
Hi everyone-I have landed safely, and my latest reports are the race was completed!
Doug Vancil won in the final over Chad Cox in Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley, Mark Conner won Pro Fuel, which was run last night in the wee hours, Tom Bradford won both Pro Stock and Pro Gas, Susie Wevodau pulled another one for the girls, winning the Super Sport, and Steve Dorn won Pro Drag. I wa suppose to have a fax with the final numbers and the remaining winners, but it has not arrived. We are all opeating on about two hours sleep, and the boys are trying to make their way back today. This was a gureling day and night for both the staff and racers, but thanks to the Norwalk Track staff for hanging in there with us to make sure we completed this event. After 3 hours of track drying, Vancil came out with a 6.35 pass, which shows how hard they worked on the track last night, only to get hit with rain two more times. Below are the numbers I had before I had to leave to catch a plane. I will have everything for you by morning when everyone returns. We appreciate your patience. (Also, you will see a lot of "No shows" on the results, which indicated that many were not able to stay for the entire event. Here's where I left off. I'll post the finals for everyone tomorrow.
