It's Raining at Maple Grove!
Good morning from Maple Grove Raceway. Mother Nature has put qualifying on hold. The rain has let up and skies show signs of clearing. Maple Grove track officials say that the weather is expected to clear around noon and they are on stand-by with track drying equipment. The rain is not the only factor..so far the temps have only reached a very cool 44 degrees. The high today is forecasted at 59 degrees. We will make every effort to get any qualifying we can in today. Tomorrow, clear skies are expected with a high of 61 degrees. Stay tuned for more from Maple Grove when there is news to tell!

Update: 11:40am
It has now stopped raining at Maple Grove Raceway and the track drying equipment is up and running! It is still a cool 45 degrees but the forecast says it will warm into the 50's by afternoon. I'll be back with any new info when available.

Update-Sportsman Qualifying underway!

We are up and running at Maple Grove Raceway!
Plans are to run 2 rounds today. The fuel bikes were on hold awaiting a magic 55 degree temp and I just received word that they have reached that number and say they will run.
Right now the Sportsman racers have taken the track in huge numbers. Last check of the numbers showed over 225 bikes teched in and ready to race! We will be back with more as info and results are available.

News from qualifying at Maple Grove..
Mike Lazano sets new record in Joker Machine Pro Modified..Travis Lummus makes record run in round two, but will have to wait til tomorrow to back it up in elimination's.
Fuel Bikes are out for final round now, Tim Kerrigan and the Red Line Oil Racing Team scored a 6.86 run in round two after breaking his handle bars in Round One and cruising to a stop with them in his lap! It's Tak Shigematsu sitting in the number one spot after round one in JIMS Top Fuel with a 6.725..but the Top Fuelers are back out now. Champion Steve Moore is in at number two with a 6.894..stay tuned for the final outcome!
All the numbers are coming your way after qualifying is complete. Only two rounds were scheduled due to the rain delay..tomorrow will be elimination day as scheduled.

Good Morning Race Fans! The sun is shining bright here at Maple Grove raceway, and the temps are on the rise with a high of 62 expected. It could be a big record setting day as track conditions and the air are looking good. A smiling Travis Lummus after yesterday's 9.40 record pass in Spyke Street Pro competition is waiting for a chance to back it up today, and Doug Morrow and the Carl's Speed Shop Team have their eyes on the winner's circle too, after finishing in the #2 spot in yesterday's qualifying.

In Joker Machine Pro Modified, Mike Lozano pulled out a National record after a 8.375 in round one and backing it up in round two. He's looking to better it in today's competition.

There were a pair of 6's in Pro Fuel competition yesterday and Red Line Oil's Tim Kerrigan says they are being conservative right now. "We've already broken enough parts this year, and spent a lot of money"
After days of little sleep getting the bike together, the team grabbed the #1 spot with a 6.860 at 194.13 miles per hour. Conservative????
With that said, the team plans no changes for the bike for today's eliminations.
Mike Rice and the FBM Racing team scored that other 6, finishing with a 6.954, the quickest pass of his racing career and the number two qualifying position. Rice is the teammate of current point's leader, Chris Streeter, who was off the pace yesterday. Look out for big numbers from this trio today, and throw in a very determined Mike Lehman of Palm Beach Florida sitting in at number 3 and there's a show on tap!!

JIMS Top Fuel saw another rider getting his best pass ever in, after Tak Shigematsu of Japan nailed a 6.725 at 201.40 miles per hour.
Champion Steve Moore says he's real happy with that PRP motor after giving it a first try this weekend. "It's like night and day".
Moore captured the first 6 in yesterday's qualifying and finished in the #2 spot.

Trial runs are underway now, and elimination's are set for 12:30pm. Check us out later for the news and results!

Race fans..if you didn't grab a jacket and head to Maple Grove Raceway..what a show your missing!
Call it JIMS Top Fuel Sushi style as Japan's Tak Shigematsu bested his best ever career time, set just yesterday and set a new track record with a round one 6.55 at 203.95 miles per hour. First of many upsets in round one competition came when #2 qualifier Steve Moore had problems with visible liquid spouting from the bike before firing, forcing him to hand the win to Drums Brancaccio.
Great news for Orangeburg Cycles, Bill Furr who has his tune headed the right way and getting back in the 6's, advancing over Russ Hildenbrand.
A Pro Fuel first and another huge upset when rookie John Cislak and Tim Kerrigan went side by side with a pair of 6.87's, but Cislak got him at the light, upsetting the #1 qualifier and Champion, Kerrigan.
Another rookie advances when H-D of Palm Beach's, Mike Lehman broke in the box sending Pro Fuel newcomer Chris Hanlon to the next round. The upsets continued in Pro Drag when Scott Truett slammed it down hard, losing parts and Rick Neal advances to round two.

It's the quickest field ever in Joker Machine Pro Modified and a new National record for Mike Lozano lead off the excitement. Lozano made a blistering 8.254 pass, backing up yesterdays,8.375. There's still time to back up that 8.25!

Travis Lummus traveled to Maple Grove, minus his main guy..his Dad, Gene, who couldn't make it here..well Dad..Team Lummus has a new National record coming home to you, after Travis nailed a 9.48 in first round of elimination's., backed up by yesterday's 9.40. Doug Morrow is still in the show after advancing over Nick Gonatas and a show of rivals may be in the works for that final round.
