Qualifying Day at Bandimere Speedway
Good morning from Bandimere Speedway and the Colorado Nitro Nationals presented by Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson and Sun Harley-Davidson.
Sportsman qualifying is underway under beautiful sunny skies. Not a real big showing in the Fuel categories-no surprise though- with the air and the 4 in a row June schedule, which has racers holding out for Texas or Seattle. The Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley rosters has a West and East coast mix and leading the pack in the pits is points leader, Doug Vancil. Mark Cox made the trip from North Carolina seeking points after a couple of first round out losses. Jake Silcox traveled from Bristol, TN with his Dave O'Hara ride. Tim Kerrigan is back after breaking everything in Vegas on both bikes. The Red Line Oil crew has had their hands full getting everything back together. The Champ, Ron Houniet is here, Bucky Varrone back after his 2002 accident, Chicago Joe to name a few.

Chris Streeter made the haul from Ohio to hold on to his Pro Fuel points lead, and Scooter Jajkowski is here from nearby Mesa, AZ.

A healthy Pro Drag field-with ten entered at last count, including a comeback entry from Dale Nungesser, riding the Fastcast Pro Drag machine. Gabe Larkins will try for that first time win, and Steve Dorn is here looking for the back to back trophy.

Lummus adjusts well to Denver, and leads the Rivera Primo Street Pro category..Cliff Dwy on the pole in Joker Machine Pro Modified...Steve Dorn takes first step in seeking another Kresto Pro Drag win...Dirk Higgins travels from Ohio for S & S Pro Stock competition. Final Qualifying Complete...Well Almost!
All classes were completed and the crowd grew thicker as the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys took the track for their final pass..then from across the mountain..and out of nowhere..you guessed it..rain showers arrived. Mark Cox was fired and at the tree, when the call came from the big end..the shut down area was too wet..shut them off. So, you know the story, we are drying the track!
Sun is shining and doing most of the job, but the jet dryer may follow. So here are all the final rounds with the exception of Nitro Harley-and that will follow as soon as racing resumes.

Elimination Day at Bandimere Speedway
Good morning from the Colorado Nitro Nationals presented by Thunder Harley-Davidson and Sun Harley Davidson. The skies are filled with sunshine and temps are expected to climb to the mid 80's today, giving brand new conditions for tuners to contend with.
Ron Houniet came out moments ago for a test and tune session -and ran in the 6.90 range at 202mph, and appears to be heading in the right tuning direction. I spoke with Doug and Julie Vancil after yesterday's #1 qualifying finish, and the point's leader and new mph record holder (set in Norwalk) says they guessed at the tune for the Bandimere elevation, and apparently made a good estimation.
They held out on making any test passes.
Mark Cox and the Bojangles team said things are coming around after moving
into the #2 spot. They were seeking a new Mickey Thompson tire to start things out today.
Aside from the action on the track and in the pits, a spectacular sight for all this morning when the MDA Miracle Ride of the Rockies left the speedway this morning for a ride through the beautiful mountain roads, and will return here for eliminations at 12:30pm. Approximately 960 were pre-registered for this awesome ride, all to benefit muscular dystrophy.
Racing kicks off at 12:30 and we'll be back with updates as soon as possible.
