Mid-Atlantic Nationals Presented By All American Harley-Davidson & Harley-Davidson of Frederick
Good morning from Maryland International Raceway! Happy 4th of July Weekend!
The fireworks will be underway here shortly.."AHDRA style", as racers starting rolling through the gates at 7am this morning! Qualifying is set for 10am.

The racing activities got underway last night as H-D of Frederick hosted the AHDRA Kick-Start party featuring some of the AHDRA racers including, Bill Furr, Scott Truett, Mark Derrickson, Mike Fitgerald, Shawn Vantucci, B.R. Nalley and more! Thanks to the AHDRA racers for welcoming the fans, and a special thanks to H-D of Frederick for the hospitality!

A great day is ahead and the temps are expected to be 10 degrees lower than the extreme upper 90's earlier in the week! A great fuel show is on tap, as early entries include, Bill Furr, Jay Turner, "The Champ", Steve Moore, Ziggy Stewart, Greg Grove, Tommy Sloan,Sonny Michalowski, Drums Brancaccio and more! Stay tuned for qualifying action from the Mid Atlantic Nationals!

Round One Update..
Back from MIR after a fuel guzzlin, tire shakin, parts breakin..super smokey round one! It was a rough one for the pros..I'm not even sure I saw a full pass in Top Fuel..but their thrashing in the pits to find the tune for round two.
Several Top Fuel riders have yet to make a pass today and others broke..so stay tune for more from entries in Round Two.

Round Two Update!
Doug Morrow and the Carl's Speed Shop Team land record pass in Spyke Street Pro! 9.328 puts them in #1 Qualifying spot, and team Morrow will have the chance to back it up in Round Three!
Mike Lehman and the H-D of Palm Beach team are the first to see the 6's today..Lehamn leads qualifying with a 6.778 at 195.31 miles per hour in Pro Fuel competition.

Unfortunate news..
John Cislak of Indian Orchard, MA went off the big end, and has suffered a serious compound fracture to his leg. He was alert and talking as he was airlifted to a nearby hospital. We are waiting for more information and will post an update when proper information is available.

The current numbers follow. Competition is now back underway following the accident with JIMS Top Fuel.

Back From MIR..Final Qualifying is Complete!
Congratulations Doug Morrow who now has the Spyke Street Pro ET Record! Backed up in the final round with a 9.311, Morrow's 9.328 is the new record!
Oh boy..a Top Fuel shake up..here's the story.
In round one, Tommy Sloan was paired with Drums Brancaccio. Sloan's bike shut off and Brancaccio crossed the line. Therefore the 7.475 was actually Brancaccio's time and not Sloan's. (Brancaccio's run was DQ'd)To make a long story short..Brancaccio is now the #8 qualifyer and Sloan is the last alternate.

Good morning from a sunny and very warm Maryland Int'l Raceway! The forecast was changed overnight, and we now face mid 90 degree temps! That's MIR in July!
News from John Cislak's crew was that he underwent surgery last night on his broken leg. They are headed back over to see him this morning and will have a report a little later. Hang in there John!

On the Top Fuel newswire..much discussion has taken place over the incident with the Tommy Sloan and Drums Brancaccio Round One pass.
The latest I've heard this morning, is that Sloan will be given a pass which could mean a new qualifying order in JIMS Top Fuel. The matter will undergo detailed evaluation by AHDRA officials and for absolute clarification in the future.

Round Two is almost a wrap..Unlikely JIMS Top Fuel Final as Russ Hildenbrand makes a first Top Fuel final appearance. He'll have his work cut out for him, as he will face Jay Turner!
In Pro Fuel another first time final round appearance as Sam White has advanced to face #1 qualifyer,Mike Lehman. White brought along Tony Mattioli for a little tuning help, and it looks like it worked in his favor. Welcome back to the track Tony and Judge Judy! In the Pro Gas final, Frank Dove has taken a win for his hometown crowd..and now Spyke Street Pro is up next. Lummus has a bye and Morrow faces Donnie Huffman!
The numbers are coming right up following that Street Pro Round.
