Final Qualifying Underway at Norwalk Raceway Park!
Final qualifying round is underway..Spyke Street Pro was just completed and Doug Morrow and the Carl's Speed Shop hold on to the #1 spot with Lummus staying in at #2. Joker Machine Modified is on the track, with Lozano just serving up an 8.435..stay tuned for more from the Roeder 30th Anniversary Nationals presented by Sylvania H-D and Thiel's Wheels H-D! This just in..Congrats in order or not?? In a thrilling run with Mike Lehman of Palm Beach, Fla, with Lehman taking out a cone at the finish, Kerrigan got a 6.59 potential Pro Fuel National record pass. Although no, mph hour was recorded, all other increments appeared to be in order. At this time the pass will count for Kerrigan, giving him the #1 qualifying spot. Fluke or not..the pass would have to be backed up tomorrow to back up the record..never count out those Red Line Oil boys! More coming as JIMS Top Fuel takes the track..
So..we have just received word that Kerrigan and the Red Line Oil team will get a re-run of that questionable ticket in his final pass against Lehman. He will be back in about a half hour for the solo re-run. We're almost finished here for the day..not many changes in the final round as far as the order goes..the numbers are coming at you shortly!
Here's what we have from final qualifying..The tower is still making corrections to the SEP and SE class ladders, so I'll post those for you first thing in the morning!

Elimination Update
Elimination's are in full swing at Norwalk Raceway, and #1 qualifyer Jay Turner opened up the show with a 6.55 bye run. Tommy Sloan got a gift when Bahnmaier did not make the call but had to return it when he took out timing equipment, resulting in a disqualification. A huge upset for Bill Furr, after he blew up parts in a test and tune, and after a group of 7 jumped in to help out with a new motor installation, the effort didn't pay off in round one, and Doc Hopkins will get the next round bid. Mark Cox found something overnight and advanced over Michalowski. Steve Moore and Drums Brancaccio also made the cut.. the numbers are on the way, and we are now on a brief hold after a staging lane pit bike accident which has us waiting for a EMT/ambulance replacement..Attention racers and crew..SLOW DOWN ON THOSE PIT BIKES!!!

Mark Cox and Team Bojangles Land JIMS Top Fuel Win..First Win of 2002!
After struggling with several gremlins in yesterday's qualifying, and Jay Turner running strong, a win for Mark Cox Racing was not looking good. Until third round of qualifying, it wasn't even certain they would make the field. Make the field they did, and things went their way all day at Norwalk Raceway Park today. Mark says once they got the new clutch figured out, things turned around. "We could have stepped it up a bit after our round one win, but we elected to leave things like they were." We figured even if we ended up running with Jay, we weren't that far off his numbers so we would stay with what we had." This was a first time win for the newly sponsored Bojangles team for 2002. Cox alternates his racing time with IHRA, but perhaps he's found the golden egg at AHDRA!
What a struggle the H-D of Palm Beach team was having..taking several 2nd place finishes. "We just can't get a win," Lehman said earlier in the season. Well they finally got it today it it was big. Lehman ran his fastest numbers ever in AHDRA competition, and after a win over Tim Kerrigan who lit the red bulb, Lehman got what he's been waiting for. Lehman had the performance advantage and stayed with it for a first Pro Fuel win!
It was five for five for Tom Bradford in Pro Stock..Team Lummus was all smiles in Spyke Street Pro..Dale Miller scores a win for his hometown sponsor in Rivera-Primo Super Gas and lots more to hear about this weekend's event..but it's time to leave the tower!
