All Elimination Rounds Now Posted
Good morning from Firebird International Raceway where we are less than an hour away from kicking off the 2003 season and it looks like a action packed day is ahead, with over 30 nitro entries recorded before 9am. The best of the best are here, and following the rainout in Florida, they are anxious to get on the track.
Last night's Kick Start party at Hacienda Harley-Davidson was spectacular! No official numbers are in, but early predictions were at least 10,000 fans attending. AHDRA was well represented with Ron Houniet, Kris & Arlie Becker and Scooter Rajowski on hand with bikes to show off. The crowd was more than receptive and it looks like they will be headed out this weekend to see the bikes in action.
Stay tuned for the qualifying action later.

Round One Pro's on the track..

Steve Huff leads off the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harleys with a 6.97 at 205.66 and Vancil followed fighting the bike with parts flying and pulling off a 6.599 at 212mph.
Ron Houniet lands a 6.87. Mark Conner had a fiery run after torching the cylinder..there's plenty more coming as the huge field continues.
Track clean-up underway after huge explosion from Bill Furr. He walked away from it, and we'll have more on the condition of the bike later. Furr reports the push rods are gone,so track officials are searching the track and then we'll be back in action.
Finally back after track clean-up..Mancuso comes off the truck with a 6.86, while Mike Romine did not have the power to land in the 6's. Steve Stordeur has rocky start and Kerrigan blazes the tire, followed by a 6.96 from Mark Cox.
Round One complete..Vancil leads the pack.

Round Two of Rivera Primo Street Pro just got underway and Travis Lummus finds something in Arizona with a record 9.203 pass! He'll have to back it up,but he's no doubt celebrating that one.
Round One Pro Numbers coming right up. In order to keep the Pro's on schedule, the Sportsman classes are running on a varied schedule. We'll have those final round numbers coming at you later.

Round three is underway with Sportsman. During Pro Drag, Kristine Becker took a spill, but walked away. We'll have her in the tower for a few comments shortly.
All round three numbers will be posted following the completion and verification of results today.

Competition Hold, following accident.
Top Fuel competition is on hold following an accident involving Johnny Mancuso and Tracy Kile. The pair were reported to have made contact at the big end. Tracy Kile is up and reported to be fine. Mancuso has been transported to be checked out after scrapes and bruises and reports he may have bruised or broken rib. This is not a confirmed medical report, only what track officials have reported from the big end. He has been
transported to and we will report on his condition as soon as possible.
Please be patient on the final round report as we will get back to you when the track is clear to resume racing.

We're back and almost complete, a few more sportsman classes, and all the results will follow.
Mancuso is being checked out at Regional Hospital, and track officials tell us he was alert and talking when he left. He was complaining of possible rib injury, a possible banged up elbow, and pain in his shin. An AHDRA official is with him at the hospital and will report on his condition asap.
Final round numbers will follow shortly. (Vancil kept the top spot)
Kristine Becker is fine, with a few bruises after her spill in Pro Drag competition. She says she isn't quite sure what happened, other than after a shaky launch, she knew she could not save it and chose to abort. She does report after being the first to tell racers not to get up after an accident, her first reaction was jump up! She has joined us in the tower, and sends her hello to everyone at home.

Good morning from Firebird International Raceway. Elimination Day will be underway soon under sunny 70 degree skies.
There were several corrections and changes to the ladders following last night's postings which will be reflected once competition gets underway today. In Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley competition, the line up today still remains to be seen, following yesterday's accident involving Johnny Mancuso and Tracy Kile. Kile was not injured, but DJ Johnson
reports he is doubtful repairs can be made to the bike. They are working on it this morning. Johnny Mancuso suffered bruised ribs and a fracture to the non weight bearing bone in his shin. He will be back at the track today and we'll update you on the news from the Mancuso pit. If Mancuso and Kile are both off the ladder, it's Steve Moore who's sitting in the first alternate spot.
We'll be back once competition is underway with the news and highlights.

Eliminations in progress with Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley Top Fuel leading off the show. #1 qualifyer Doug Vancil advances over Steve Huff. (Huff ran his quickest and fastest times in yesterday's qualifying, and thanks Jim McClure for helping him find the power) Tim Kerrigan broke a belt and Ray Price advances to Round 2. Steve Moore in as an alternate after Mancusco and Tracy Kile's accident kept them out of the show, and Morre advanced over Mark Conner. Moore had put his bike on the trailer and had it in route home when he found out about the alternate position and following a cell phone call, he's headed to round 2. #2 qualifier just boiled the tire but got it together for a win over Mark Cox who ignited the engine. Mike Romine just took out Steve Stordeur and Bill Furr ends Shigematu's day. Big upset for Champion, Ron Houniet after crossing the center line and advancing Dean Comunal.
We're on hold to replace timing devices, so we'll be back with the numbers shortly.
