Qualifying is close to a wrap with only a few sportsman rounds remaining.

We are encouraged to report that Mike McAdooÕs condition has improved greatly.  McAdoo was injured in yesterdayÕs test and tune and was listed in serious condition.  Gary Wadding from CMA along with Maura Hall have been with McAdoo today and report he is making strong progress.

Jay Turner has doubled the #1 qualifying intro spots tomorrow after securing the ScreaminÕ Eagle Top Fuel and JIMS Pro Fuel top spots!

Turner finished with his best lap of the day (6.658) in this sweltering heat.

Romine didnÕt make it down the track in his final shot of the day, but comes away with the 2nd best spot with his earlier 6.671.

Tommy Grimes had to shut off in the box after a burnout yielded a mystery pop from the machine, but his earlier 6.751 left him 3rd in the field.

Bill Furr is holding his own in the 6-second line-up here in Georgia with his 6.825 best for the 4th spot.   Lehman, Shigematsu and Kile round out the remaining six-second club today and Doug Vancil squeezed in the field despite his problems along the way with a troubled 7.311 best.

A shy field of Top Fuelers (11 entries) here leaves the bump spot at eight.

Jay Turner is the #1 qualifyer after three sessions in JIMS Pro Fuel.  His best- a 6.873 at 194.30mph and Steve Simmons is 2nd with a 7.129 best.

The rookie-Jim Fagan who finished big in St. Louis is struggling a bit here in Georgia but managed the 3rd spot with a 7.198 at 187.6mph.

The champion, Chris Streeter is off his pace in the Georgia heat as well.  After shutting off early in the final round- Streeter finished in the 4th spot.

John Breckenridge tried a new plan for success this weekend.  Deciding that his number-7777 was bringing him more bad luck than good-Breckenridge changed up a new tag-#59.  He finished his day in the 5th spot.

Armon Furr struggled a bit himself this weekend and finds himself in a rare last spot in the field with a 7.715/136mph best.

Lori Francis of Kirkwood, MO is the #1 qualifyer in S & S Pro Gas with her round #1 best of the day at 7.494-173.47.  Dale Raudenbush finished 2nd and Champion, Mike Lozano rounded out the top three.

Rick Moore has been off his record pace in the Kresto Pro Drag category but has held on to the #1 qualifying spot with his earlier 7.510.  Moore shut off early in his 3rd and final attempt of the day.  Willie Herschberger is close behind him with a 7.598 best for the 32 spot.

Junior Pippin is now five- for- five as the Samson Pro Modified #1 qualifyer.  A great finish in front of his hometown sponsor (and the event sponsor)- Stone Mountain Harley-Davidson.  PippinÕs best was an 8.302 at 154.95mph.  Shaun Reno is chasing Pippin once again and finished his day in the #2 with an 8.441/156.00.

David Poague of Manassas, VA is back on the track here at GeorgiaÕs House of Speed. Poague is set up with a dream team combo this weekend when it comes to tuning help-. HeÕs got the hands of Steve Alstedt, George Bryce and Rick Maney helping him out.  Poague finished the day in the #5 spot out of the ten-bike field.

Andy Simon runs his best of the day and holds on to the #1 qualifying position (his 4th consecutive time this season) in G2 Street Pro.  Robbie Closson is in the 2nd spot with his 9.132 earlier pass.  Zach Johnson improved slightly and finishes the day in the third spot.

Greg Kuypers holds on to the Casa Bella X-Mod pole with his round #2 9.064 while his Drag Master teammate Stephen Galati took the 2nd spot with a 9.160.

ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer- Tripp Nobles steps up to the starting line as the #1 qualifier for the 3rd time in the 06 season with a 9.499 (139.23) best.  Michael Ray who currently holds the #1 spot in SSC-124 class after two sessions is the #2 qualifyer in the Destroyer field.

The Screamin Eagle Destroyer final round is on the track now and we will then jump over to final round Pro qualifying before resuming with Sportsman final rounds.

3:00pm

Final round qualifying underway under brutal 97 degree temps and a 125 track temp reading.  The results for each class go up after each class is completed and tech verified.

2:14pm- Track temp-122deg

2nd round session of Pros completed with Mike Romine grabbing the pole from Turner with a 6.67 at 210mph. Turner improved his numbers in the 2nd round, but not enough to keep his top spot.  Vancil smoked the tire again, but his 7.311 at 202mph gets him in the field in the #7 spot.

Mike Lehman came out for round #2 and got real close to the retaining wall while pulling off a 6.85 and Tommy Grimes improves with a 6.75 for the 2nd spot.

We have resumed with Sportsman Round 2 qualifying where we left off (S&S 124).  The results are coming up.

1:34pm

We have now interrupted the Sportsman 2nd round session to go back into Pro Qualifying.  We will pick back up with the Sportsman shortly.

The Pros are in the lanes.  Reported track temp is 117deg and outside temp is a warm 96deg.  The results coming up after the round.

12:20pm

Looks like we have the result-posting problem worked out and now we are playing catch up with getting them posted for you. Round One qualifying is complete and the 2nd sportsman round is one the track.  Stand by as we get those round one numbers up for you.

11:24am

We are underway with round one of Pro Session.  We are currently experiencing technical problems with the result posting pages.  Stand-by as we try to get the problem fixed as quickly as we can.

7:22am:  Good morning from Atlanta Dragway- a.k.a. GeorgiaÕs House of Speed.  Early morning track prep is underway to set the stage for todayÕs qualifying sessions.  The forecast remains the same-with low 90Õs and a small chance of isolated showers.  The humidity is at 88% (and the day is young).  Needless to say- a hot Georgia day is ahead.  TodayÕs opening session begins at 9:00am with the Casa Bella X-Mod class, followed by Syn3 ET.  We will begin the live result postings for you immediately following the rounds.

We are awaiting an update on Mike McAdoo who was seriously injured in yesterdayÕs test and tune session after apparent problems with his front wheel caused him to lose control and come off the bike at the ¼ mile mark.  Maura Hall was with him most of the day and evening at the Atlanta Medical facility and reported last night that he is medically sedated at the time and is continuing evaluations for head injuries.

He also suffered a broken clavicle.  The medical crew here at Atlanta Dragway are also following his progress for us, and this morning they tell us that he appears to be making positive progress for recovery.  Join us in continuing prayer for that recovery. We will continue to share any forthcoming news with you.

Friday- Test and Tune:

TodayÕs test and tune session is complete.  Although the pits seem to be filling up rapidly- participation in the test session was light- perhaps due to the humid temps that are not expected to improve a lot over the weekend.  The forecast calls for low 90Õs with a small chance of isolated showers.

Unfortunately there was an accident in todayÕs test session involving Mike McAdoo of Monsey, NY.  McAdoo was on board his Super Sport entry and clocked an 11.774 at 71.17mph before smoke came from the bike appearing to be front wheel problem after officials looked over the bike (The cause was not confirmed). McAdoo came off the bike following that trail of smoke from the bike.

He was airlifted to an Atlanta Medical facility in serious condition.

We have not received any official word on the extent of his injuries.

Fellow friends and racers, Maura Hall and Keith Carper are with McAdoo at the hospital and we will share any updates on his condition if they become available this evening.
