ThatÕs a wrap from Bakersfield..we will be back at you in Commerce, GA May 28th & 29th!
(4:00pm) The ProÕs are running semi-final rounds and then we are back to Sportsman. Final should come up right on schedule at 5:00pm. Fans are standing by for a Ron Houniet-Doug Vancil finale in Screamin Eagle Nitro Harley- and Mike Lehman and Chris Streeter will pair up in a tight JIMS Pro Fuel final. SemiÕs continue- follow the numbers on the ladder result pages and we will be back for an update during the final rounds.
(3:15pmPT)- We are running smoothly here in Bakersfield. Sportsman eliminations are still on the track and we will be headed into another round of Pros shortly.
Larry Edmondson Jr. gets big numbers here at Famoso this weekend in Screamin Eagle V-Rod. He ran a 9.496 in yesterdayÕs final round of qualifying and quickly backed it up in todayÕs opening round.
Back to posting the numbers- IÕll update more after the round.
(2:00pm PT)Update on todays running order. We have complete a full round of Pro eliminations and due to a few delays it is now time to go back into the scheduled hourly round of Top Fuel. Once we run the Fuel bike round 2- we will pick back up with Sportsman eliminations.
Nitro Harleys fire off first round at Famoso Raceway!
The drivers introductionsÉthe invocation, the National Anthem and Ron Houniet fires up for his first round bye in Top Fuel and waits and waits but the tree malfunctioned and he was shut off. He was offered a free pass to the next round since it was a track error, but Ron being dedicated to the fans and always ready to put on a show went to the back of the pack to come out at the end of the field. The tree issue was solved and the round resumed.
Doug Vancil was the one to watch in the opener-leaving the crowed in awe of his 6.561 at 209.93mph pass.
Tracy Kile advanced over Griz Robinson- but the real story was how he got there.
Kile torched a head in yesterdayÕs early qualifying and a Drag Specialties rep directed him to someone in the area that could help him and the team out. Off they went- already safely in the field- to a house with a garage in the area. He got everything needed there and thatÕs when the Old Glory Racing team came to his aid. Giving up their final round of Pro Stock qualifying (RaudenbushÕs bike) so Stan could get KileÕs bike back in shape- they did just that and got her ready for todayÕs competition.
Could a repeat PA team sweep from last years Oregon race be in the works? Stay tuned to catch Kile- Raudenbush and Sternotti in action today.
The numbers from todayÕs opening round coming soon.
Good morning from Bakersfiled. We are back with more sunny skies and war temps. Todays action will start with a couple or rounds of ET to narrow the fields to sixteen for todays show that starts at 12:30pm (PT)

All rounds complete at Famoso Raceway today!
Ron Houniet held on to the top spot in Nitro Harley with the 6.720 in a full field that struggled to get down the track.
No problems for Chris Streeter and Mike Lehman in the JIMS Pro Fuel field- Streeter is the #1 qualifyer with the 6.843 and Lehman laid down a 6.850 at 200.93mph in the final lap today.
Dale Raudenbush made the long haul from the East and is the #1 man in S & S Pro Stock action heading into tomorrowÕs show.
Travis Lummus also making up the many East coast travelers here in California made it to the 8-sec zone in todayÕs final round in G2 Street Pro and the 8.954 gives him the spot he likes best-#1.
Sternotti was knocking on the 8-sec door but did not quite get there with a 9.096 best.
Lozano held on to the pole in S & S Pro Gas with a 8.237 best and Phil Schmidt kept his Kresto Pro Dragster top spot.
Greg Krenik and Wayne Pugh make another outstanding team showing, grabbing the top spot in a class each as they did in Texas. KrenikÕs 10.325 put him on top in S & S Super Sport and no one bettered Wayne PughÕs 10.905 in Performance Corner Super Eliminator. Nice teamwork.
Hard to follow the record numbers lighting up the clocks in S &S 124 Challenge. Sternotti fired the last shot with a 9.560 at 142.40- the current record before California was a 9.970. Check out the qualifying runs on the result pages for the numbers flipped-flopped between Sternotti and Michael Ray today. We will see which one takes home the record after tomorrows rounds.

Good night from BakersfieldÉhome of Buck Owens!
2nd Round is a wrap.
Final qualifying round is underway. The 2nd round was a little sluggish in performance- perhaps brought on by the California heat- although Ron Houniet was able to improve his numbers in the Top Fuel field and Chris StreeterÕs Pro Fuel numbers are good enough for the 2nd spot if he were entered in the Top Fuel competition.
WeÕre looking for better marks in the final round today as the temps cool.
Round 2 News (1:20pm PT)
Charlie Walker is here without his lovely bride-Eleanor this weekend, but giving her something to watch here on the result updates- HeÕs leading the field in 2 classes! HeÕs out front in Performance Corner Super Elim with a 10.946 and heÕs battling with pit-mate,Donnie Huffman for the lead spot in SEP qualifying. Walker leads with a 11.513 and Huffman is close behind with a 11.518. ThereÕs one more round left to see the outcome. Stay tuned Eleanor!
In SS124 Challenge- itÕs a battle for the record books as Michael Ray ran a 9.842 in the opening round, and backed it up with a 9.809.. That was before Joe Sternotti came out and ran a 9.706 which he will need to back up to take the newly acquired record from Ray. All records are subject to proper tech inspections and verifications before becoming official of course.
More coming.
First round complete with little delay and the ET bikes are out for the 2nd qualifying lap of the day.
Canadian Ron Houniet, leads the field (6.910) after one round in ScreaminÕ Eagle Nitro Harley followed by Doug Vancil (6.922).

Good morning from Famoso Raceway. We are finishing up preparations on the track and in the tower for todayÕs qualifying that gets underway at 9:00am (PT). The skies are filled with plenty of sunshine and todayÕs temps are expected to reach 90 degrees.
A hot one indeed.
Last night the pit- parking flowed smoothly and decent fields are on tap here in Bakersfield.
AHDRA is happy to welcome Steve Heidner out this weekend to watch the action. Heidner suffered injuries resulting from a big end crash at Firebird IntÕl Raceway, and although thinner and sporting a cast from wrist injuries, he appears to be healthy and on the mend nicely.
