Saturday August 8, 2009 6:45pm
Qualifying is done for the day and what an ending we had
at Bristol Dragway. We have a
sixteen-bike field in ScreaminÕ Eagle Top Fuel Harley and they were all pushing
the bikes to the limits. The second to last pair of the day would be Douglas
Horne who would pair up with Phil Schmidt (the national champion). Douglas
would go out and run a 6.451/216mph to take over the lead but it would be Joey
Sternotti that would make the last pass of the day on the Ray Price Top Fuel
Harley and lay down a very impressive 6.309/220.01!
The PeacePipe band will be playing tonight and also Donnie
Huffman will be having karaoke in the pits to entertain the racers.
Check out tomorrows exciting action at Rush Performance
Thunder in the Valley. Racing will
begin at 9:30 with the sportsman class, ET, SEP, SE, and SS to bring the fields
down to a 16-bike field. Opening
ceremonies will then be at 12:15 and the pros will then lead us off in the
first round of eliminations.
3:30pm
3rd round of qualifying has begun. The temps are rising but the track is
still getting better as the day goes on.
2nd round of qualifying has begun. The fields are full with bikes and we
are still running a little ahead of schedule and are going to try and slow the
racers done during the sportsman classes.
August 8 9:00am
Good morning everyone from Bristol Dragway. It is a little overcast this morning
and the temps are expected to be in the high 80Õs to low 90Õs with little
humidity.
After having a month off from championship racing,
everyone was ready to get back to it!
We have over 220 racers already here and racing this weekend. The pits are full with racers; venders
and the hills are filled with race fans camping.
Yesterday we had a racer, Charley Douglass, while in
test-n-tune came off his bike. We
were told that he had dislocated his shoulder and should be fine
considering. I will keep everyone
posted as soon as I hear anything else.
We are running ahead of schedule today and will more than
likely be taking a short break here shortly and I will get all round 1
qualifying up for sportsman.
The pros will be out between 11:00 /11:30am.
