In Top Fuel, you will see #1 qualifyer, Phil Schmidt looking for his 2nd national points win.  He will take on Tommy Grimes, whoÕs looking at a chance for a first 2008 win on the Mid-Continent Motorsports Top Fuel Machine!

In Pro Stock- It will be #1 qualifyer, Sean Reno taking on Bruce Beltramini!  ItÕs BeltraminiÕs 2nd consecutive Pro Stock final- and for Reno, heÕs had #1 qualifyer spots and told me in St. Louis, all he needs now is a win.  Stay tuned to see if he gets it or will Beltramini get his 2nd win in a row??

In Pro Fuel- Douglas Horne and #1 qualifyer, John Breckenridge battled it out in a great race.  They were identical at the 330 mark and something went away for Breckenridge at the 1/8th mile.  Horne was wiggly at the 1/8th mile but moved ahead full throttle for the win.  Horne will go to the final against Chris Streeter.  Streeter advanced over Tak Shigematsu on the bike he was here to shakedown for new owner, Dana Meeks.

Pro Gas- Mike Lozano goes to his 2nd consecutive final and will take on Dale Raudenbush.

Semi Final Rounds on the track.. Check them out as they happen right here!!

3:15pm

2nd round of Top Fuel coming up around shortly, followed by Outlaw Fuel.  Please note that during Outlaw Fuel, you will only see bike #Õs on the Live Timing system instead of names due the class being a combination of nitro categories.

EliminationÕs continue to run smoothly here at Texas Motorplex.  The Live Timing system is awesome and doing the job!  One thing I should point out though-If the computer operator in the tower punches in a wrong bike number, you will see a wrong name pop up, just as we do here at the track.  Once the correction is made here, it should reflect the correct name in the next round.  We had a wrong number punched in earlier, so if your watching from home and it was YOUR name that came up..that was our bad.

A feature on the Live Timing System is the race status info you see scrolling across the top of the window.  If there are oil downs or other delays, we can put that info in that area for you.  Stephanie is still punching the numbers for you too..so we are double armed here at Texas Motorplex with all the latest racing results!!

Fired up and running at Texas Motorplex!  You donÕt need me to tell you whatÕs happening here on this page- you can watch the numbers as they happen on the Live Timing System!  Check out the link, and we will check back with any breaking news!

Good morning from the Lonestar Nationals presented by Kresto!  The weather is forecasted to be much warmer today and without wind interference, so with that, the fuel classes will compete on the ¼ mile today.  We will start todayÕs show at 12:15pm (central time).  Check out the Live Timing provided by Texas Motorplex..you can see the scores as they happen!  Stephanie will keep your results going for you on our pages, but take a more detailed look at the action today, or view yesterdayÕs action on the following link: http://1320go.com/texasmotorplex/livetiming.php

Qualifying Day at Texas Motorplex

May 2nd

Qualifying wrap at Texas Motorplex!

Another wild round of Top Fuel finishes the day..the hot news of the roundÉPhil Schmidt runs under the national 1/8th mile MPH & ET record on a blast in the final round at 4.17- 209.62mph!  He IS the new #1 qualifyer.

Exciting news for you all that follow the LIVE RACE UPDATES..I have just learned that Texas Motorplex has Live Timing Available.  You can watch the scores as they happen, simply by clicking on this link: http://1320go.com/texasmotorplex/livetiming.php

Follow tomorrowÕs eliminations!! We will begin with a couple of early sportsman rounds at 9:00am and then the ProÕs take the track to start the show at 12:30pm.  ThatÕs central time!

4:15pm

Final round qualifying has begun with sportsman categories!   The 2nd session of Pro qualifying ended with a wild Top Fuel session that resulted in a new leader!  Steve Dorn grabbed the #1 spot with a 4.27 at 176mph over Mark ConnerÕs earlier lead.  Conner moves to #2 with a 4.29 at 177mph.  DornÕs Latus H-D ride, with crew chief, George Latus himself has started an early season battle in the standings with Conner and it looks like the contest will continue here in Texas.  Stay tuned to see if itÕs one of them that holds on to the #1 spot, or will someone else better their numbers in todayÕs 3rd and final round!

All the final qualifying round results will be coming at you after the rounds!

3:00pm

Round two Pro qualifying underway, but with a handful of delays early in the session,  a couple of timing blocks are currently being replaced after getting knocked out during the Pro Drag category- and we will be back in action shortly!

1:45pm

The 2nd session of Sportsman qualifying on the track currently.  We expect to bring the ProÕs back out around 2:15pm.  Several track clean-ups have us about 45 minutes off schedule.  IÕm operating the tower race computer today, so IÕm limited on commentary here, but IÕll jump in here with any breaking news or updates on schedule delays. ItÕs really chilly.  The weather folks missed this one for sure..forecast was mid-70Õs, but we are holding in the high 50Õs so far.

Pro Qualifying Update

Round one of the ProÕs on the track.  Pro Drag, Pro Fuel and Top Fuel have been put on the eighth mile for todayÕs qualifying due to the gusty winds.

The results coming up after the round.

10:45m-

Sportsman opening round completed and the ProÕs are coming up at 11:00am.

The breaking news from round one..

Mike Roberts clocked a 9.206 in SSC124 qualifying-edging the current record (9.207).   In a post race interview with Roberts after his win in Madison, IL- Roberts said that he missed setting a record there, but hoped for one in Texas.  HeÕs made the first step at that- now we wait for the back-up.

In SEP and Pingel Super Eliminator..WhoÕs that girl?  Many may be asking that. SheÕs from Los Gatos, CA and her name is Nicole Youngblood.  SheÕs the #1 qualifyer with a 10.91 in SE and in SEP she finished on top of the order with an 11.52.  I hear sheÕs new.  Nice debut.

We all know Wanda Poff though, sheÕs been a heavy hitter in sportsman competition for years and sheÕs out strong today with a 9.72 for the top spot in Bison Racing/Eagle H-D Super Gas for the #1 spot!

Stay tuned for the Pro results following their round.

9:00am  Good morning race fans.  We are a few minutes away from beginning todayÕs qualifying with the SYN3 ET class.  Conditions today are chilly (the 40Õs), but the temperatures are expected to rise to the mid 70Õs by the afternoon.  The winds are somewhat blustery right now and discussions took place in the riders meeting regarding eighth-mile racing, but so far, the riders have collectively agreed to stick with the quarter-mile.  Once we approach the Pro rounds at 11am, they will continue monitoring the wind conditions should a change need to be made.

Stephanie Druschel will be keeping you up to speed with the results following the rounds today.  WeÕll check back in here with any breaking news.

Friday, May 2nd –TEST AND TUNE DAY AT TEXAS MOTORPLEX

Howdy from Texas!  We are a few minutes away from wrapping up todayÕs test session at AHDRAÕs Lone Star Nationals presented by Kresto.

I was actually able to be a spectator today and take in a bit of the action-

HereÕs a little bit of scoop!

Tak Shigematsu and DJ are teamed up on a Pro Fuel test ride again this weekend!

This weekend, they have entered a bike in the Pro Fuel category for nitro newbie bike owner, Dana Meeks.

Many of you may wonder where youÕve seen that name before.  Meeks is a SPEED Magazine contributing writer-covering many of the rider profiles youÕve seen lately.  It was news to me that he had a fuel bike program in the works, so once I have a chance to speak with him, IÕll follow up on his plans for a nitro debut under the direction of DJ Johnson.

Now, as for the bikeÕs performance, Tak, whoÕs becoming somewhat of a ŌNitro GigoloĶ is pimping the ride for Meeks this weekend and the result so farÉthe first pass he smoked the tire and the 2nd pass- a 6.85 at 186mph!  DJ was smiling..and Dana, if you are reading this at home, I bet you are too!

Shigematsu is coming off of a record setting-winning weekend on the Pro Fueler he rode for owner David Poague in St. Louis and now weÕll be watching to see what the DJ-Tak combination brings out this weekend for Dana Meeks.  I spoke with DJ earlier and he said heÕs been ribbing Tak before each run by telling him..ĶDonÕt be scaredĶ.  TakÕs reply..  I not scared!!

Another comment from DJ to share.  I ask him what he thought about people questioning the 245mph pass from Gateway IntÕl Raceway..his reply..what 245 pass?

DJ says he figures the run was probably actually around 230, just as his 2nd round pass was-but there was definitely not 245mph in that bike!

Other than that pass from Tak, the only other decent nitro pass I saw that didnÕt boil the tire (doesnÕt mean there were not other good ones-I just didnÕt see them) was from Top Fuel pointÕs leader, Mark Conner.  Conner smoked the tire himself in his first try, but then he came around for another try and clocked a 6.58 at 219mph.

Doug Vancil had the same problems in his first attempt (tire smoked) and in his 2nd time out- he smoked the tire and a flash and a boom followed it!  Vancil coasted to the finish and he was A-Okay at the top end.

Test and Tune is completed and the tower is shutting down for the night.  WeÕll be back tomorrow with all the action and results from Texas Motorplex!
