AHDRA SCREAMIN' EAGLE RACE AT THE RALLY
(NON-POINTS EVENT) AUGUST 4-5, 2009

Winston-Salem, NC, August 17, 2009 - The All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) returned to the Black Hills of South Dakota for the Screamin' Eagle Performance Parts Race at the Rally in Sturgis! This non-points event marked the halfway point in the 2009 Screamin' Eagle Championship Series.

A highlight of the event was the appearance of "The Timeline Motorcycle" built by Steve "Doc" Hopkins, owner of Doc's Harley- Davidson of Shawano County, WI.

This motorcycle features all the air-cooled Big-Twin motors from 1909 to present that Harley-Davidson has manufactured. It took about eight months to build this unique motorcycle; the historical ride from Wisconsin to Sturgis took three days and 10 people.

Fans and racers alike were in awe of this incredible creation. Our very own Craig Tharpe, president of the All Harley Drag Racing Association, got the pleasure of riding on the bike. "It was a once in a life time experience," Tharpe says. "I was just honored that Doc asked me to ride along with them down the drag strip. Doc, as usual, has again outdone himself with this historical creation."

AHDRA, racers, and fans will hold this two-day event close to their hearts as all remembered and missed fellow racer Gregory "Griz" Robinson.

Griz was the man who would be up and about, a big smile on his face, drinking a cup of coffee and saying good morning when you woke up in the morning and go for a stroll around the pits. He always started a conversation with you, whether you were a first-time racer, a national champion, or a fan who wanted to experience it all. He was just happy to be there every year.

Additionally, he raced Top Fuel Harley drag bikes for 25 years on the AHDRA circuit. Griz was the first Colorado racer to break the 200-mile-per-hour mark in the 1/4-mile, hitting 202 mph on April 2, 2004, at the Firebird Raceway in Phoenix during the AHDRA races at Arizona Bike Week. At the Sturgis Dragway later that year, Griz won it all!

Godspeed, Griz.
