April 20, 2010 - This last weekend we kicked off the first NITRO FOR CHARITY event.

The All Harley Drag races at Firebird raceway was the location for the first of many races for charity. Terry Stewart of Movers and Shakers Racing offered up his National Event winning Nitro Harley Pro Dragster for charity.

The new Pilot program works like this. If you have ever wanted or felt the need to go fast, Terry has offered up his Nitro Harley for training and entry to a national Event put on by AHDRA. All you have to do is make a donation to one of the 3 charities that Nitro For Charity Race Team is involved with. This last weekend The Breast Cancer Society Inc. of Phoenix, AZ was the charity they raced for.

This weekend former nitro drag racer Gabe Larkins rolled up to the starting line for this first event. Gabe raced Pro Fuel and Pro Dragster in the past. After a 5 year hiatus from the AHDRA circuit, Gabe felt this was the perfect opportunity to get back on a nitro bike.

Gabe called up Top Fuel Tony Ruggiero and his Crew Chief Mike Ruggiero of Ruggiero Brother Racing and asked for their help. They both stepped up to the plate and offered up their services to help crew and transport the bike from California so Gabe could race. Without the help of Ruggiero Brothers Racing this would not have been possible.

This event was not about winning or losing. It was about raising awareness for The Breast Cancer Society and having fun. After 6 successful passes on the Nitro Fueled Pro Dragster, Gabe Larkins walked away with a new 6.9 second race license and a big smile!
