In the meantime- Although we now know the outcome of the anticipated Top Fuel title, there are still several hanging on for more rounds!

Larry Edmondson and Lou Gerencer are still head to head in the V-Rod pointÕs chase and both have advanced to round two.

In Hot Street- Croneberger and Douglass are paired in the next round and it will determine the fate for their shot at the #1 plate!

For Bob Drapp, he was in the chase for both Syn 3 and Super Gas titles.  HeÕs out of the ET field today, but still in the Super Gas race.  The numbers shall tell when the ET totals are confirmed later tonight, but it looks firm for his repeat title in Super Gas as Tripp, Surber and Riddell are all out of the race.

Stay tuned for the final outcome to all of the exciting titles up for grabs here in Vegas!!

Speaking of medical reports- in yesterdayÕs qualifying session, Sue Bistline took a spill at the turn off after her water bottle bracket came off.  Bruce came up this morning to report that she has some bruised ribs and feeling quite sore today, but is doing fine.  Hang in there Sue!!

We are racing at The Strip!!  Doug Vancil opens the show with a 6.28- the quickest pass of the weekend so far!  Shigematsu followed with a 6.43 to advance over Steve Dorn..so Vancil and Shigematsu still in it and the title is still up for grabs!

Stay tuned for the numbers from Top Fuel and all the opening rounds on the ladder pages!

The ScreaminÕ Eagle High Stakes Shoot Out is in the lanes!!

Over 100 of them and they are in the middle of the time trial session.  We will cut them down to sixteen tonight and then tomorrow..somebody is going home with a $12,000 and a $3,000 check!

Stay tuned for updates on the Shoot-Out Final 16 later tonight!

4:00pm:  FridayÕs qualifying session completed from The Strip and itÕs Phil Schmidt of Orangevale, CA taking the seat at the top of the order for fastest of the day at 6.356 and 217mph.  Schmidt is coming off his record setting weekend in Pomona where he took over the record books with a 225mph Top Fuel blast.

Bob Malloy finished today 2nd in the order with his 6.381 at 207mph and Joey Sternotti rounded out the top three with a 6.441 at 219mph.

Twenty-three bikes entered the Top Fuel Friday qualifying session and no one is fighting harder for a good spot in the order and for needed rounds on Sunday than the #1 and #2 points leaders- Doug Vancil and Tak Shigematsu.

For Vancil, last nightÕs cool air scored him a 6.26 at 226mph in test and tune, but today with sunshine setting in on the track and the warmer air, Vancil fell off that pace to a 6.753 at 162mph and is currently in the 11th spot.  For Shigematsu, his job just got harder after his opening pass (9.821) has him at the bottom of the pack at #23.  Shigematsu ran in the 6.30Õs in test and tune last night, so perhaps tomorrow morningÕs early session and cooler temps will bring better numbers for both the leaders as they battle it out here this weekend for the National Championship.

Returning to the competition this weekend after his March accident –Chicago Joe.

HeÕs sporting a new look –after trimming his stout frame by more than 100 pounds, and reporting that he is feeling better.  Joe shows that heÕs still got it with his debut pass at 6.81 /196mph for the #13 spot in the hefty field.

In S & S Pro Stock, Junior Pippin sets the stage early to take his #1 status all the way to the end with his opening pass at 8.265/156.66mph. Shaun Reno had a good opener for the #2 spot with a 8.372 at 152.38mph.  Nine bikes made up the round one session.

The JIMS Pro Fuel session wrapped up with Jay Turner setting the stage himself for the #1 plate that will be his Sunday night with his dominating lead in the standings.  Turner sits at the top of the order after one session here in Vegas with a 6.634 at 197mph.

The Rush Pro Gas #1 plate will be handed over to Dave Feazell for 2008 and he too opens the session with the pole position at 7.808/135mph.  Ten entries made it out for round one.

In Kresto Pro Drag, thirteen bikes so far (a couple of those are license runs)- and so far itÕs Will Simplot that scored top honors with a 7.508 at 169mph and coming off his exciting win in California, itÕs Terry Stewart in the #2 spot after one lap with a 7.537 at 167mph.  The reigning champ, Rick Moore has a lock on the repeat crown, but falls off the pace in todayÕs opener with a 7.613 at 176mph for the #5 spot.

Krenik- BorhoÉBorhoÉKrenik..thatÕs Sampson Pro Modified and all eyes are on this pair as this crown will be decided right here at The Strip. Borho lays his best hand down first with a 8.77 at 149mph for the top spot while Krenik is right behind him at #2 with a 8.86 at 146mph.

Zach Johnson opens up with the #1 spot in the 1st session (9.211/146mph) on his way to his first ever National Championship.  Andy Simon is in the 2nd spot with a 9.230 at 150mph.

Take a look at the Sportsman classes..

Bob Drapp shows why he wears the #1 plate and is in line to repeat his title..Drapp opens the Rucker Performance Super Gas session with a 9.707 and sits on the top of the order and the standings after round one.

In ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod, Larry Edmondson says once again- ÒIÕm tired of #2Ó.

He awaits the outcome just as we all do of the Championship title this year.  Edmondson opens the session with a 9.646 at 138mph for the top spot.

Lou Gerencer is the one who could interrupt EdmondsonÕs quest for the title here in Vegas.  For Gerencer, his opening round has him at the bottom of the pack after a wounded run so he will look to fight his way back tomorrow.

Dick Fish is on top of the order in S & S Super Sport with a 10.319.  The battle for the Championship is between John Cabral and Larry Maynhart.  After one session, Maynhart is 17th in the order and Cabral is 24th.

Mike Roberts should have the #1 title locked up in S & S 124 competition and Gerencer is firmly in position for the #2 plate and the pair sit just that way (one and two) after one session here at The Strip.

Andy Campbell is at the top of the Pingel Enterprise Super Eliminator order with a 10.922 and Charlie Walker clocked a 10.925 for the #2 spot.   Dean Druschel can start the celebration (as soon as Steph gets here) as his title is locked shut for 2008.

Druschel is currently 6th in the qualifying order.

In Drag Masters Hot Street, Bruce Croneberger is holding on to the top spot in the standings by a short margin over Charley Douglass.  Croneberger didnÕt help his case in the opener after the scales said he was light and therefore isnÕt in the order yet.

Charles Cannon had the best shot in the opening round with a 10.125 and Charlie Douglass who is after that #1 plate from Croneberger is #2 with a 10.383 after one session.

Forty bikes made the opening session in SEP 11.50 index qualifying and the #1 man (until Sunday at least) Donnie Huffman clocks a 11.501 to take the pole.

Dan Norlin and Greg Best are the contenders for the Championship to be decided right here in Vegas!

L.E. Tonglet continues his solid domination in ScreaminÕ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer racing.  Tonglet will be the youngest competitor (at 17 years-young) to hold a National title when he takes the stage at Monday nightÕs banquet.  Tonglet leads the qualifying order after one with a 9.396 at 139mph.

A whopping 95 bikes came to the line for the opening Syn3 ET session and Alex Barmettler of Maplewood, MN has a firm #1 position with a perfect .000 to lead things off.  A battle is on tap for the National title as the top four, Drapp, Rowe , Norlin and Huffman go rounds this weekend to determine the big finish.  Could Bob Drapp be in line for double titles???..Stay tuned for the Big Finale Sunday night at The Strip!!

Good morning from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway!  We have been blessed with sunshine and very pleasant mid 70 temperatures today and the same is expected throughout the weekend!

The AHDRA tech trailer is still hopping with racers registering for the big season finale here in Vegas.  At last count, we have passed the 400- entry mark- and headed towards a new record for racer entries.

It looks like Top Fuel entries are getting close to 30..and the ET class is jammed-packed as most have entered to warm up for todayÕs ScreaminÕ Eagle High Stakes Shoot-Out starting today at 5:00pm.

Over 100 entries in the Shoot-Out so far and we will run them down to sixteen today and the final sixteen will battle it out tomorrow for the hefty cash prize!  ($12,000 to the winner and $3,000 to the runner-up)

Today we will run ONE qualifying session for all classes beginning at 12noon.  Stay tuned for the results following the round.

**Test and Tune NewsÉDoug Vancil runs a 6.260 at 226.09mph off the trailer!
